what shall i do?

I wonder who could be the main driver of a lowered Civic with alloys, loud exhaust and all the other gubbins. The 19 year old lad 'named' driver or the middle aged housewife 'main' driver. Hmm, tough one that...

Well all that "gubins" is probably not insured through their company legitimatley otherwise their premium would be through the roof anyway. So whether they are fronting or not, their insurance is most likely void in the case of a accident.

Why don't you just let your mum drive a bit more? Get her to do the weekly shop in it and a few errands when you're doing something else so if you ever do get in an accident you won't even have to lie and you still get money off your insurance.

yea none of my gubins are insured but none of it is performancing enhancing. and it doesnt matter weather my mum drives it or not they can still say its my car just by the looks of it

They would definitley need to prove it, they would need things like official signed statements under questioning from people who saw you driving, it would be so difficult to do that they just wouldn't bother that's why around 80% of young drivers do it.

On my insurance forms you have to declare bonnet bumps, alloy wheels, spoilers, optional factory-fitted body kits and a whole load of other random stuff which I would never have guessed at if I hadn't seen it. All of these things are along the same lines as 'fronting', in both cases you are not dislosing ALL the information you know.

I've never heard of someone having their claim revoked over a spoiler, but then again I've never heard of them having their claim revoked over fronting.

yeah i suppose it must be hard for them to prove. but doesnt matter. me and my mum bit the bullet and have paid the 1.2k. its ridiculous but it had to be done

Yeh, in the case of an accident at least you can sleep easy :)

The price can only go down now :nice:

Unless you crash :angry2:

I've heard of both, recently as well, guy whos insurance didn't pay out was on a moderatly large claim too (about £6000 I think! nasty suprise!!)

Good move, I started driving at 17, lost my 1st years NCB (£800 at fault claim against me) and am only 19 now and am insured on a EK9 now in my own name. 10month accelarator is a fantastic idea for young drivers imo. Its worth forking out the extra pennies to begin with, all these adverts for NCB for named drivers is bullocks - it's a discount that's only valid if you stay with that insurance company, you will NOT be receiving a proof of no claims certificate after 10 / 12 months. Just a way to lure young drivers in and force them to stay.

id say its ridiculous getting allowance at 18! you should be paying your parents.lol

when i wrote off my SIR they sent me a checklist from the assesor of all the modifications that had been done on my car and a list of what i had declared...i was being a good boy and declared everything so was ok. but the assesor mentioned that if there were differences they probably wouldnt pay out.

also..if you kill someone or something serious that deserves an investigation etc will they really believe in court that your mother is the regular driver of a suped up civic.lol.. its an IF but IFs a big word
