I recently pull-of my catalytic coverter and fabricated a testpipe on my ek4. I put on back the O2 sensor of the CC on the fabricated testpipe but this warning sign came off on my gauge.

What does this mean?

hmmm im quite sure its a warning light for when the catalytic converter gets to hot .

guessing by you putting a test pipe on then it is going to get a hotter reading all the time hence that light coming on .

please someone correct me if im wrong

I have never seen that one ! Although never had one with an 02 sensor in the cat however had heard of it.

i have seen it a few times dude . one on a teg and another on a ef . its like a temperature sensor at the rear of the cat

Done some research, try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery for a few hours, then have fun setting your stereo back up :) Light should go out if there is not a problem.

He has done away with his cat hence the light coming on so re-setting the ecu wont actually do anything

yeh its the catalytic convertor warning light m8, my mate had a prelude and he had the same warning light. It flashes up when the convertor isnt secured properly and/or is faulty.

It's an exhaust gas temperature warning light not sure why it would come on but hot exhaust gas usually means the engines running lean.

Will this harm or do anything bad on my engine? My engine runs fine and I don't have a CEL on it, only this warning light.

Maybe the positioning of the O2 sensor wasn't right??

Its your cat temp sensor, just remove it from test pipe and tack weld it to outside then blank off the bung in cat for it.
