I am getting a very loud noise from the front of the car, which I can only explain as a 'whirring' sound, like the sound of the tyre rubbing on something (but it aint that!).

The noise gets louder the faster you go and is always there when driving in a straight line or turning left, but goes when you turn right?

Could this be because there is less pressure on the bearing?

There does seem to be some play all around in the right hand side wheel, CV joints seem OK. No clicking / humming coming from them.

What do you guys think?

Check brake pads first. Does the noise go if you apply the brakes?

No it does not mate.

Noise only goes if I turn right.

Check the brake shields in case something is stuck in there. Normally when I hear problems like this that the noise goes when turning one direction it's brake related. After that I would be looking at the wheel bearing if sure it's not a cv joint...

im pretty sure it will be a wheel bearing buddy . have it quite alot at work u get it noisy when u turn one way but once u turn the other the noise goes away .

Sounds like the wheel bearing alright, had to do mine a while back.

Jack up the car, and push the top of the wheel if it moves with ease towards the body of the car its most definately that bearing. We checked a mate of mines Nissan Pulsar a few weeks ago and the play on it was scary, had to be replaced straight away!
