5x30 / 10x30 100% synthetic oils if you have Fresh build or vary low miles under 20,000 but on and older motor with high miles I would not switch to a full synthetic.

+I love my Castrol EDGE 0W40..

hey guys;; ehm.. i m currently using motul 5w30

its close to my service already; my mech recommended me a oil "ashrock sycnro-x 5w50" fully syn.

u guys heard of this oil b4?? if not. is there a reason why i shouldnt or should use a 5w50 oil???

any one try oil grade like tis value b4?? thanks

alot of people on the integra dc2 forum reccomend silkolene pro s 5w40 oil. it's designed for high revving engines and seems to have a very low consum[ption on vtec compared to other oils of the same weight :nice:

Thats what i bought for 20 litres (5 bottles)~

Anyone using it?

i m using 10w40 Q8 semi-syn oil for the past few years.works well and i don't feel the oil degrade after certain milage.
started with 10w40 castrol magnatec - engine feel bit sluggish after 2k miles
tried Eneos 10w40 for few times, stil not as good as Q8.
Also tried motul 4100 turbolight 10w40, quite OK for my engine but i settle down for Q8 as its cheaper :D
i would recommend 10w40 for hot climate too..

p/s- i change the engine oil every 3k miles [b16a2, 11.9:1 cr]

can somebody quickly confirm how much oil the B16B takes?

Would a 4 litre bottle do the trick.... Going for mobil 1 5w-30 fully synthetic

that is maximum right? As 4 litres would be more then enough oil to put in, wouldnt it?

4 liter is fine.

when changing the oil, fill the oil filter quickly to the top and then swirl it around waiting for the paper media to absorb it before spinning it on. Any excess should be used to wet the rubber gasket.

Resist the urge to fill it slowly, unless you like having a huge (clean) oily mess raining down on you when you reinstall.

This will help with the initial start-up and hep build oil pressure right away.

I take it a step further and pull the ECU fuse under the bonnet and give it a few cranks (do NOT do this if your battery is weak!) till the oil light goes out before putting the fuse back in and then starting it.

Thanks for the info mate :nice: very helpful....

Im going to get ordering some oil right away.

4 ltrs is enough but i'd go for 5, gives you some spare, its possible you may consume a drop:D, or spill some,
5 30 seems like an odd choice.

Thats a very good point! cheers :nice:

why do you think 5 30 is odd choice? What would you go for and why?

At the end of the day does it "really" matter providing its around whats normally used... I mean really?

i think i'd be right in saying 90% of the people on here use either 0 40 fully or 5 40 fully or 10 40 semi, i usually like to stick to what i know, personal prefrence and all that:blabla:
i use and like silkoline pro s 5 40, its the best i've used consumption wise, all round seems good.

another good thing is it comes in 5 ltr bottles unlike mobil 1 and motul 300v, so you end up with 800 ml for top ups

On the first page it states that honda reccomend using a 10/30.... Ahh so many different opinions looking through this thread! soo confusing!

the silkoline line up, they do a 10W 40 in semi synthetic and 5W 40 in Full synthetic... The semi is sooo much cheaper its unreal!

Its also said in the thread if the car hasnt been used with fully synthetic you shouldnt use it, so good idea to just go semi......... i may go for it.......

yeah the silkoline/fuchs 10 40 semi is alright i reckon, i use it in my glanza, and am putting it in my b16 a thats going in the mini project,
it's a sensible price as well:nice:
