Quite an easy fix.
Dunx

why not!? i thought its meant to be good

The molecular structure is very different, and the lubricating propeties are different also, we tested landrover against Honda MTF3 samples at work.
They break down at different rates under different temps, Honda was the superior oil, bieng more stable. :nice:

Cheers dude :) rep me up ;)

x2

I was under the impression they were the same

Yeah so was I until I drained my gearbox which contained landrover MTF3 then 2k later drained Honda MTF3 and the difference in colour From the same millage was what got me thinking?? Tested both used and fresh oil, the lubricating propeties of the used L/R MTF3 were IMO were hampering opposed to helping!

I'll get the guys at work to keep testing the oils in the sampling bay, and see what I come up with :)

Might make a separate thread on this, with the results ;)

You are a valuable member buddy! Thank you for sharing!

I would say from experiance gear box oil is important , go with what they recomend. When my clutch blew up the garage put in cheap oil and it nearly killed my kaaz diff it was knocking like crazy, i drained it and put the recommended kaaz 80w90 and it was quiet as a mouse, my friend had the same problem with his smx he used cheap oil and his rear diff made some awful noises he changed it back to honda mtf and it stoped all his problems.

Honda mtf all the way.....or kaaz if your running a kaaz diff

my car sometimes has a bad first gear, it doesnt crunch, its just hard to select times, would better oil help this issue!?

You mean while the car is moving? Have that in all 3 Honda's, probably protection that you don't put it in 1st when driving 75mph.
