Who's happy with B16B power?

I hadnt tried the calculator just a guesstimate on the ones I have, then I havnt been in a B18 either :((

the B18 pulls so hard at 120MPH it would be a waste to end the gear there :( On that engine its all about mid range grunt. The torque pulls you through the gears. Saying that, shorter 3rd and 4th it would be frigging insane!!

Ah go ya... :nice:

How about shorter 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th :D

:drive:

i couldnt imagine 1st and 2nd being any shorter! lol... I seem to rip through those 2 gears in a flash now on 4.4 final!

Personally if i were to make an ideal gearing, would be with the 4.4 Final drive with longer 1st, 2nd gear then shorter 3rd,4th,5th. But i would want to be able to hit at least 140MPH.

Good point.... i'll have another look at gears only

I'm just curious, but why would you want to be able to hit 140mph? I know I'd very very very rarely get to use that speed, and for track days it's out of the question.....right?

I was just shy of 130 round snetterton...

Just done those gears that chris suggested with a 4.4 FD and still hits 133mph.... :D

Maybe just change 4th and 5th

1st 2nd and 3rd are pretty good....

Im not sure why your curious of that?

I like a car with a nice top speed. Just like the fact super cars can do 200MPH. Why have they got such a high top end? there are times where speeds can be used. Not sure on 200MPH lol, but 140 isnt exactly super quick.

My starlet can hit 140MPH from a standing start in around 19 seconds. So for me, 120MPH is too low. I like top end.

Fair enough, I just view the EK9 as more of a quick acceleration car, I'm not fussed about top end. I too like Supercars that can reach crazy speeds, but again, you wouldn't really get much chance to top it out!

I know 140 isn't that quick, but if it was between 140 and 120, with the prospect of much quicker acceleration lower down, I'd settle for 120mph (providing I was tracking the car often), otherwise the revs might sit a little too high on the motorway......burning lots of fuel!

You do have a good point i will say.

I think the best thing would be to say, i would have to expereince a drive in a properly geared EK to say, 120MPH and decide from there what i prefer. Just having had the B18CR fitted yesterday, i can hit 120MPH so much quicker then before. Just wants to pull past that speed with alot more to give.

Then at the same time the buzz from the closer/shorter gearing could be worth the compromize of top end loss....

hmmmm

It's all down to personal preference, and personal use I guess :)

I think a mid way comprimise would be the best option :D

you need to try a car with 4.785, you would be supprised, i find it makes 1st and 2nd perfect imo.

its all very well and good watching videos, but you cant beat the real thing.
