Well lads..
The heads wrecked at the moment and i need your help..

Id love to buy an Ek9 but.. In Ireland there is rarely a clean one that pops up for sale! Im willing to wait a little while.. but then i have in my head maybe i should just get a b16b conversion into my 1.4 EJ9?

But.. if i got a b16b into my EJ9 what would that increase the value of my car to?

My car atm has 89000 miles on it! Second owner since new.. its a 00 and its a clean car so if i was selling id sell at around 2200 Euro!

My whole thing is i could be waiting months if not a year for a clean EK9.. or wait a month or two and get a conversion! and i dont know what to do!

Am i stupid to waste 1600 on an engine upgrade or just wait for a proper 9?
 
That's completely up to u really, are u looking for the complete package, looks, chassis and power or would u be just happy with the running gear? I suppose u could easily get ur own car upto to a really nice spec and still save instead of paying the ek9 premium, plus a lot of people are strugling to get what they want wen trying to sell them after, where as if u modded ur own upto spec, once u get bored u could always put it back to standard after.

P.s. I can supply you with a b16b running gear if you want :)
 
and tbh there so much more to an Ek9 then just the engine.

depends what you want to do, but id wait for an Ek9, come to england and buy mine !

Think ill wait for a 9 mate :) could be a while but it'll be worth it :)
 
just a word of advice Niall.

You'd be a mad man to buy an EK9 registered as a 1.5i, don't get involved in that sort of stuff mate.

No you need a certain post count to sell something, Im just giving you a heads up if you want to look at it, think its best to look at as many as you can befor commiting. the link has my number
CW, EK9, cwest front, tanabe medalion ex, P1's and RoC rear lights, i live 5mins from you, also have a rebuilt b16 that would suit you itr cams etc

wait for the k9 man..their are handfuls off good clean ek9 in this country either your looking in wrong place or you cant afford wha they make..or perhaps your a picky cint..a proper mint 9 here can fetch 5k
 
It will increase the value of your car but not by that much. There are plenty of clean EK9on Donedeal. If you really want one that bad go have a look at a few of them.

There are lads in Ireland trying to sell ej9 with conversions for the same price as EK9's and at the end of the day.. they are still an EJ9... When I bought my ek4 I paid a bit extra than a few that were on DD because it was an original Ek4 with the original engine from Japan and the owner knew who imported it into the country and who the other previous owner was.

where should i be looking though? i regularly check on here ,donedeal,gumtree,autotrader and carzone! is there anywhere else thats good to check? :)

id say just be patient and wait for the right ek9 up, otherwise you will end up buying something inferior and you will be forever wanting to scratch that itch!

Yeh did you get some pics of it in Japan??? Deal breaker I'd say...



Your dead right to be picky, DD and gumtree are painfull when you see the add and then car is not "mint" or "not smokey", usually find the longer the owner has had the car the better the condition.
Best ek9 I ever had... Manuals in the glove box, factory sticker on pas recaro, owned for 3yr... Guy didn't even know there was a spoon ecu in it.
 
Looks like a pretty clean 99 black ek9 gone up in meath 20 hours ago, check tha out :)
