Hi guys, I have just converted my ek4 to an ek9 and i put a b16b in it and i expected a little bit more from the b16a. What I have in mind now is to stroke my b16b to a b18c by changing the crank and the rods since evrything else is the same. Has anybody in here done this ? Any advise or anything please? Cheers!!

Crank, rods AND PISTONS! Maybe you can swap your B16B somewhere for a B18C for a few 100 quiad, there are a few places that do that. Much easier and cheaper.

I am a mechanic and used honda parts importer and i could even put a very good condition b18c on my ek4/9 but since ek9's come with b16b's i just decided i would prefare if i put a b16b.. A lot of people called me crazy for not putting a b18c instead and maybe i am crazy. But thats the way i am. The b16b is a very good engine itself but when i swaped b18c's myself into EK's, the difference is very very noticable. I could have baught an ek9 instead of converting my ek4 into an ek9 no? But i find it exciting converting something ordinary into something else. I converted my ek4 to a 9 and now the b16b into a b18c. I do the work myself so labour charge shouldn't be an issue. I just wanted to know if somebody has ever done this conversion and if there is anything i should be aware of.. Thanks for your opinion though guys:))

why not go full hog on the 16b with cams and supporting mods for ITB's

thats an experience worth doing over just changing the 16b internals to 18c

also moved to engine section

This is a pretty straight forward build upgrade, no real issues to speak of. However I have not done this build myself, [b18c-r transplant for me] but know a few that have. Did you read the link in the post above? [http://www.ek9.org/forum/engine/8085-stroking-b16b.html] Blinx9900 is very good...its a good read.

I dont like the b18c over the b16b. The 16b is a lot more fun to drive. If it was me i would just mod the b16b nicely. :))

i love the b18c-r torque over the b16...

hard to argue with that statement and standard b18c in same car V b16b will slightly out accelerate the b16 and be easier to drive around mid range

BUT

give me b16 anyday, much nicer engine for me in terms of feel and what i like from an engine, not just about whats quicker for me

You can artifically limit the power down low of a B18C and still have the B18C top-end with the same character :)

What about stroking and turbo charge the b16b? Has anybody done this? What pistons are best to use and head gasket. Cos N/A tuning is a different story when tuning u turbo charged engine. Therefore compression ratio and what head gaskets to use is an issue.
