So glad you asked this. As i think i have the same problem. I was just going to pull the head off and wizz a 3 leg honer on a drill down each bore to rough them up a bit then fit new rings. Ant try bedding them in again.
Seems it is a bit more hastle than i thought. Dont think i will bother. Im planning a B20 build for next year anyway. No harm just running as is topping up with oil every 2 weeks.
This reminds me why i joined this forum. Even throughout the useless repeated dribble questions posted every day, there is still guys who post on here that know there stuff.
Where does he think all the metal on the sumo plug has come from ? You'll be beter off reboring over honing as the cylinder's will be out of round. Its up to you though, you've come this far at the end of the day...
How does the crank look ? Is it scored ?
feck me mate that rod bearng is not looking good, which engine is this? the spoon stroker lump?
Not up for messing around now so if it needs boring it will be bored... Daz at DNR said the bores are pretty strong and should be good for a hone, I have specs from him now which I'll pass on to the engineer. If they are out of those specs oversize pistons will be going in.
Will let the engineer look at all other components and will post up his findings
Crank is mint, no scoring at all.
LOL I know, yeh it's spoon stroker lump. I ended up getting scammed with the new engine which I'll explain in a few weeks when its all sorted.
fookin ell sad times, i hope you get out the other side of it with an awesome engine,,
good times for a couple ek9 owners this week at least with Steve & Ians Dyno tunes, keep an eye on their threads watch ians vids to keep you motivated that you will get there!!
Ok cool mate you do that. What are the out of round spec's ?
It looks like the bearings have done there job properly then and saved the crank. This is one of the reasons that Honda OEM bearings are the best bearings out there.
O yeah, can you find out where those metal shaving come from ? Has you pump failed ? Did you have low oil pressure ?
