B20 Engine???

F20C in a Civic.

Wow, never thought I'd see the day.

You`d want a minimum of 2.5" for a B20.

Manifold wise something with a 2.5" collector but it depends on how much you have to spend to be honest. Tri-Y manifolds work very well on B20`s for instance. They`re usually on American Ebay. Not sure on price.

thanx....

tri-y???what is that??

Hytec make them and it looks like this

Hey just read through this and various other threads, excellent info!! very interested in going down this route in the future!

What bhp, whp, torque is achievable with the stock B16B head and my current set up of j's intake with custom heatshield 90mm cold air feed with ice box, lighweight flywheel, spoon 4-2-1, custom de-cat and tanabe SMR exhaust? may get bigger injectors, better intake mani and TB. I would most likely get it tuned by Will on S300.

how reliable is the B20 build if done properly with the full girdle, breather kit, etc? I would be using this as a daily runner with the occasional drag and track. Would the 4.9 FD work well with the B16B/B20 combination? which B20 do you recommend?

Cheers
Rambo

Id go b20z over b20b, higher compression to begin with.

And IMO theres no point in a 4.9fd with a b20, as the whole point is that it has lots of torque anyway.

Thanks mate! :) so is the b20b a totally diff bottom end from b20z? will the b20b have good compatability with the b16b head? yea I've read higher compression is good when doing this build!:)

yea thats what I thought, but maybe there are other gear ratios that may help me?

IIRC it is the piston design which provides high compression, the rest is the same.

With the amount of torque available, short ratios are going to be a hinderance if anything. Stock ratios are supposed to be good enough!

A I see cheers mate. I'm going with the RS machine pistons Raginangel recommended but not sure what compression they provide. They are meant to be good for 220whp tho!:nice:

so my stock ek9 gearbox and LSD will be fine?:nice:

bump, need help on the above last few posts!:) :) calling on RA, blinx or ek9turbo. thanks :)

Stock box and LSD will be more than adequate. Might wanna upgrade the clucth depending on it's condition.

Since you'll be changing the pistons, don't fret over buying a B20z over a B20b, the b will be cheaper and the lower compression won't matter.

By my calculations, a B20 with 165lbft will put more torque to the wheels in 4th gear than the stock car does in 3rd. :nice:

hello mate , if ur thinking of going down the b20 route the give DNR a ring and ask for daz, he has the fastest b20 crx in the uk. pm if u want there number, he is one of the best b20 builders in the uk

hye guys....

i'm planning on building b20 engine....
my current engine is b16b...

here's the stuff :
1.skunk2 pro series stage 3 cam+valve spring+retainer (complete cam stuff)
2.porting & polish head
3.CRV block with 85mm wiseco or supertek forged piston
4.h22a injector
5.Aem/toda adjustable cam pulley
6.OS Giken clutch
7.Skunk2 pro series intake
8.2.5" piping

Is there's anything that i need to add?
i need your comment on this

When getting the injectors make sure you get the saturated intectors from the facelift prelude or accord type r. The earlier ones require a a resistor box wire'd into the system. The later injectors are only 280cc tho but will do the job as that's what im using on mine.

You also need a b20 vtec conversion kit from either golden eagle or black worx racing etc.

ARP head studs

You need an ITR cam belt and tensioner, water pump and oil pump.

You would also benefit from a bigger throttle body...68 or 70mm.

Last thing..If your wanting to go with a stage 3 cam set-up your gonna have to be looking at a big CR to get the most from it...like 12.5:1

Thats all i can think of right now :)

Hope this helps

noted on that..thanx mr JDmarron..

i already got the injectors, and also the water pump & oil pump...
i also got a super90 70mm Throttle body..

thanx again bro..it helps

Awsome thread :D doing this conversion soon ! dont understand about the pcv system but will probably get help for that bit .

B20z has slightly higher compression because of different pistons. they are known to cause problems with clearance if you uprgrade cams. So thats why b20b could be better for some. If your changing pistons then this wont matter.
All i would say is have it clayed before you run it.
