B20 has arrived!

Cool. Look forward to seeing your build.

My brothers got a b20 block with a b16a head just lying there unused... Hmmm.

mate you wont be let down by a b20 they are awesome and suprisingly quick engines, ive been rocking mine for over 5 years.

but as you know it is not as simple as buying a cheap block, you will need to change alot of stuff.

the vtec cross over can be violent depending on your cams i would recomend ek9 or dc2 cams.

here is some important stuff you will need that is often over looked.

you will need a catch tank set up as the b20 block vents through to the cylinder head and the vtec heads cant vent the pressure, b20 blocks dont have the charcoal canister.

there is a test peice you can get from honda(lings) that screws in the block where the charcoal canister does go

a set of arp head studs, as the heads have been known to blow off the block

and i would change oil and water pumps as the engine will be operating at higher rpms, dc2 ones fit well.

any Q's drop me a pm

hope this helps you out

Good info there matey ;) :nice:

NewType r oil pump
new water pump
Either arp or oem head studs
new bearing and rings

Im gona use a catch tank too :)

why is it so good? just more torque? and do you still get the aggressive vtec crossover?

on a std ek9 its only aggressive due to the lack of go before VTEC, the kick was made like that for marketing by honda.

Theres no real kick from a b20 crossover, but mine has more torque at 2500rpm than a b16b has at any point.

what sort of bhp gain do you get from this?? and how much roughly would it take 2do??

if anyones interested,i have a b20 bottom end,and a full b16a2 sat at work..b16 had some kind of knock, most likely bottom end..but could be ideal to rebuild..wont want alot for the 2.

sorry i didnt mean to sound like a noob lol,i just thought for a moment id missed out on a b20 with vtec already

Sorry mate didn't mean anybody in particular, it just seemed like alot of people who were unsure of alot of b20 stuff.

That thread cleares a fair few questions so thought I would post a link up.

Rep added mate.

Tons of newbies around lately.

If anybody has any questions on B20 Vtec builds there is a whole thread about building them, pritty much everything you need to know.

http://www.ek9.org/forum/engine/7867-loads-b20-information.html

Just saves poeple asking a ton of questions.

i was about to say there s**t loads of info available on here allready.

the charcoal cannister normally goes in where the big screw/plug is next to the golden eagle vtec conversion, you can see 2 big screw/plugs either side its the one on the right

also i would go ARP ove OEM and i would also use ACL or King racing bearings over oem
