Hi guys, been a member on here for a bit now and was driving a crx del sol with a b18c6 however to cut a long story short basically i was tired of the leaky roof etc on the del sol and i was stupid and put a dirty rocker cover on my b18 and scored the bearings and mangled my oil pump
I had been starting to warm to ek shape, especially after joining here and it was after seeing phillyt1988's ek9 that i decided i would have to get one and maybe take the sol off the road so i didnt have to rush everything with it because it was my daily.
And so i went on the hunt for a clean civic ej9/ek3 that i could plunk my b18 in to. The reasoning behind this is that they are cheaper than an ek9 and i am going to have to drive it for a while before i can put my engine in and the insurance will be cheaper for that time.
I had been lookng for a while, originally i wanted a black/silver facelift ej9 or ek3 and although was willing to go to the mainland id rather have got it closer to home. I went to look at a few near me but none really were to my taste and were rusty. Then i saw an advert that i liked the look of for a black jap import ek3 and went to look at it. I liked it as soon as i saw it and the guy selling it was very helpful and dead on. Although it wasnt a facelift, and had a few minor things id like to cjhange like the wheels and exhaust, it was my preferred black and was clean of rust :) So after a few viewings and looking underneath i was very happy and i handed over the money :)
The spec is:
D15B vtec
Air filter (ebay?)
Exhaust system (no namer)
Lowered (dont know the springs)
Back 3 tinted
It also came with some nice jdm extras like cupholders, raybrig foglights and electonic fan control thing on dash lol. Also has 2 stereos :nice:
Heres a few photos of it i took today. Sorry they are very crappy, i dont have a good phone or camera lol

Was a nice day so went about making her lightweight lol, to make the most of that d15b so removed the aircon. Engine bay looks alot cleaner and less cluttered without it in my opinion. Plus i never use air con.

Then removed the rear wiper and put in the wiper delete :) Again makes it a bit more lightweight and i can live without it.

Then removed back seats, boot carpet, spare tire etc, to make sure there was no rust and to remove sound deadening :) Again helping her shed some unwanted pounds :) Think i might keep the back seats out aswell, never really give people lifts haha.

Yea i know mate, she will live on though i will get her all sorted once ive done the swap on the ek hopefuly :)

Cheers guys, the build is coming along nicely, just ordered some ARP head and main studs and next will be the rods and head gasket and engine seals :)
Yea ben mate il try and get better photos in the light, i just took those ones quickly with my crappy camera phone before it got too dark to see anything lol.

Some very nice parts there man, never knew blitz made ITB's for honda's :) cant wait to see more updates!

Just a few small updates on the car, with some great quality photos on my 2 megapixel camera lol.
Well i decided i would make more weight reductions and remove the rest of the air intake piping. Plus it wasnt being used and looked stupid in the engine bay.
Us working on taking bumper off.

Lol didnt like the photos with that jdm sticker thing so made more weight reductions lol. Goodbye jdm guy thing! Sorry im just not a big fan of these stickers myself.

The stupid piping

My mate john working on removing the piping while i just stand and take photos

All gone, good few kilos lost lol

I needed to remove the rest of the piping for the rear wiper and so went ahead and did that as there was no need for it anymore and it was cluttering up the engine bay. Then while doing this i decided to take out the big bulky washer bottle and fit the more lightweight and smaller washer bottle that i bought for the del sol. Also tidies the engine bay up a wee bit more. Was a bit of a nightmare though as it started getting dark and raining and the wing and sideskirts had to come off, which is usually easy in the light but at night when its raining, not so easy :((
Anyways cracked away at it.
Heres the old bottle in its usual spot.
DSC00186.jpg

Heres the new one, bought off fleebay, but seems half decent and comes with brackets and stuff to mount it :)
DSC00188.jpg

Best photo of the day lol
DSC00189.jpg

Once removed i compared the two beside eachother

Just a few shots showing the stuff removed before the new bottle goes in :)

Also took out the aircon compressor thing as it was just doing nothing.
DSC00192.jpg

And the new washer installed. I will probably relocate it again in the future, probably into the inside of the car or something but i didnt have to time or patience to start sorting out the loom and stuff to extend it into the car.

Also lastly this came in the post. Been wanting one for ages but couldnt justify paying the full whack for it. So when it came up on ebay at a good price i had to go for it :)
DSC00201.jpg

Yea J's Racing Front Brace :)
DSC00202.jpg

DSC00204.jpg

Had to go fit it there and then lol.
Few wee sticky pads so it doesnt mark the paintwork
DSC00206.jpg

And Fitted. Very nice fit and soo much stronger and better than my ebay strut before lol. I know its just a brace but the front end does feel tighter than before. Took the car up the back roads to make sure of it haha.
DSC00207.jpg

DSC00208.jpg

Again please excuse the dirtyness of the car, the weather has been wet the past few days so the roads are messy and havent got a nice day to give her a proper buff yet.
Cheers

Cheers guys :) Yea ricky, got new plates the other day :) haha i hate when i take the brace off and there is scrapes on the engine bay

**** this could have been my car being taken to bits and beasted up lol
That would have been weird seeing my car with that engine it in

Haha i know mate, i would have took very good care of her :)

Well sold a few parts and been workin my butt of so bought some nice things for the car :) Was going to spend money on the b18 but decided that it was time i spent some money on the outside of the car and start getting it looking the way i want.
First off i bought some nice new ek9 bumpers to get rid of the bump strips and because the other ones had seen better days. They arent genuine honda ones but hopefuly theyll have a good fit.
DSC00244.jpg

Had been looking at carbon bonnets and was going to pay the full whack for a new one but then one came up for sale not far from me so i snapped it. Saved me a good chunk of money and was in good condition :) Im really pleased with how it looks, had been looking at a few black eks on the internet with carbon bonnets and thought they looked awesome so glad to have one now. Also of course great bonus is its very light!
Heres the car it originally came off.
DSC00219.jpg

Heres us fitting it
DSC00224.jpg

Then got home gave the car a wash and wallah! Also took the yellow lip off the wheels, as i didnt like the look, and my power washer basically blew them off as they were just like tape lol.

Then i went ahead and bought a carbon spoiler and carbon mugen rep front lip. I was undecided as to whether to get the mugen or the spoon front lip, but in the end i think i like the mugen better so i got it in stead. Similar to the bonnet i wanted a carbon spoiler after looking at them on other eks. Wanted the type r one as i like them the best on the eks and got it in carbon as i thought it would tie in well with the bonnet and the front lip :) Plus its light!
Heres them when they arrived. Always great when new parts arrive :)

Tasty

DSC00235.jpg

I didnt hang about and literally fitted it as soon as i got it haha
Old spoiler off

Didnt get any more snaps of it as i was in a rush to get to work but will take more in the morning to show how it looks.
I think that wil do for the carbon parts, i dont want to put too much on, just nice touches of carbon is nice i think :)
I cant fit the mugen lip until i get my new bumper sprayed so will also get pics of that soon, as hopefuly i will have the bumpers painted in the next few weeks. Cant wait to see what the car looks like with all the new stuff on :)

Lastly i got some new parts for the engine build.
Some ARP Main studs. Ordered the Head studs from another person but they havent arrived yet.
DSC00245.jpg

Also got some nice Supertech flat face valves from brian on here.

DSC00247.jpg

Will get some more photos of the car in the morning. Sorry again about the crap photo quality, i am going to buy a new camera soon.
