Well havent updated this in a while, been busy with work and exams.
Well the B18c withe th buddyclub valvetrain dropped a valve and ended up selling most of the parts to get another b18. I managed to source a good healthy 98 Spec B18c from bradydc2 from the forum (good guy and seller)
Then i got myself a 98spec S80 gearbox with the 4.7 final drive from vtischris on here (again good guy and good seller) Needed it as my y21 was crunching in 3rd and had no lsd or the better accelration.
I did the swap myself with my mate John (hondacivic028). It was a pain in the ass as we had no engine crane so had to jack the car up real high and then trolley the engine in underneath adn then jack up in to place. Ive never done a swap before so was a good learning experience and would be confident enough to do another now. It took us a night to get the gearbox, clutch etc bolted to the engine and get it mounted in and tehn a couple of other nights to hook everything up and get through some annoying things like replacing ball joint as i had to beat the crap out of the old one lol. Also need to say thanks to ricky (eternal blue) for helping me out with a dizzy and which i still need to pay for lol.
The engine is running on ITBs lol, and surprisingly is idling and running well with them but it is causing the engine to overfuel so i have bought a standard intake and tb to put on for the meantime until i fully service the engine and fit BC high comp headgasket to bump up compression for the ITBs. Then i will get the engine tuned with the ITBs and maybe get some BC spec 3 Cams however i am very content to have a b18 with bolt ons at the moment as i have never really had an opportunity to enoy the b18.
Current spec is:
98spec B18c
S80 Gearbox
Blitz ITBs
Skunk2 Alpha Manifold
Skunk2 Megapower Exhaust
Walbro Pump
Heres some pics, engine bay needs cleaning and rocker cover painted to tidy it up a bit. Aslo did the headlight wire tuck to make it a bit tidier.
Thats everything up to date now. Im just getting the car ready for the MOT at the moment as it needs powersteering pump, engine mounts (want solid ones) and new tyres. The car is also in the garage drying off after a good wash underneath to be ready for undersealing process of red oxide primer, chassis black and stone guard. I knew the car was rust free as arches and underneath are immaculate (only imported in 2008) but with the bumpers and wings off i have been chuffed to see it is like new everywhere and so i want to keep it that way! Thought id take a few photos so that any futuree buyers can see i wasnt just painting over rust.
Future plans are to get MOT, get full ek9 interior, get ek9 rear bumper/lip and get the side skirts and bump strips painted. And then enjoy driving the thing lol.
