Bens EK3 B18c with ITBs

Cheers mate. Yea I think Buddyclub recommend between 11-13 compression for these cams and when i was talking to a car tuner he said with the pistons it bumps me up in and around 12.5 compression so the cams should have the right compression to run properly. Yea I know mate, fingers crossed it will be quick when its done, really just want to build it and drive it now, its been that long since ive driven the b18 :)

Well been busy working and stuff so havent updated this for a while now, but got my engine built last week so thought id show what ie been doing the last few months.

Got some heat wrap to wrap the Manifold. Didnt wrap it all the way to the top because want to see it glow gold :)

Gave the car a good clay, polish and wax using TurtleWax Clay Kit, Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Dodo Juice Wax. Took over a day to do by hand but was a good work at the car was looking very clean afterwards :)
Heres how she looked minus some tyre slick ha!

Then took the engine down to keith in Cookstown to get her built up. While the engine was down there i decided to paint the old flakey rocker cover i had bought. Stripped, sanded and painted it black vht. Its only this colour temporarily as i couldnt decide what colour to go with so just going to wait until the engine is in. And I cut the cam gears holes out using a drill and filed down the rough edges. Theres probably better ways of doing it but thats all the resources i had.

And the engine all built up with new rocker cover on. Hope to have the engine in by the end of october but will see how it goes, still have to get a few things like exhaust and distributor to finish her off.

Cheers lads, really want to get the swap finished soon and see how she goes :)

Well havent updated this in a while, been busy with work and exams.
Well the B18c withe th buddyclub valvetrain dropped a valve and ended up selling most of the parts to get another b18. I managed to source a good healthy 98 Spec B18c from bradydc2 from the forum (good guy and seller)
Then i got myself a 98spec S80 gearbox with the 4.7 final drive from vtischris on here (again good guy and good seller) Needed it as my y21 was crunching in 3rd and had no lsd or the better accelration.
I did the swap myself with my mate John (hondacivic028). It was a pain in the ass as we had no engine crane so had to jack the car up real high and then trolley the engine in underneath adn then jack up in to place. Ive never done a swap before so was a good learning experience and would be confident enough to do another now. It took us a night to get the gearbox, clutch etc bolted to the engine and get it mounted in and tehn a couple of other nights to hook everything up and get through some annoying things like replacing ball joint as i had to beat the crap out of the old one lol. Also need to say thanks to ricky (eternal blue) for helping me out with a dizzy and which i still need to pay for lol.
The engine is running on ITBs lol, and surprisingly is idling and running well with them but it is causing the engine to overfuel so i have bought a standard intake and tb to put on for the meantime until i fully service the engine and fit BC high comp headgasket to bump up compression for the ITBs. Then i will get the engine tuned with the ITBs and maybe get some BC spec 3 Cams however i am very content to have a b18 with bolt ons at the moment as i have never really had an opportunity to enoy the b18.
Current spec is:
98spec B18c
S80 Gearbox
Blitz ITBs
Skunk2 Alpha Manifold
Skunk2 Megapower Exhaust
Walbro Pump

Heres some pics, engine bay needs cleaning and rocker cover painted to tidy it up a bit. Aslo did the headlight wire tuck to make it a bit tidier.

Thats everything up to date now. Im just getting the car ready for the MOT at the moment as it needs powersteering pump, engine mounts (want solid ones) and new tyres. The car is also in the garage drying off after a good wash underneath to be ready for undersealing process of red oxide primer, chassis black and stone guard. I knew the car was rust free as arches and underneath are immaculate (only imported in 2008) but with the bumpers and wings off i have been chuffed to see it is like new everywhere and so i want to keep it that way! Thought id take a few photos so that any futuree buyers can see i wasnt just painting over rust.

Future plans are to get MOT, get full ek9 interior, get ek9 rear bumper/lip and get the side skirts and bump strips painted. And then enjoy driving the thing lol.

Yea it goes well, need some good mounts tho. Haha notsure how i feel about them myself, they get mixed opinions but they will look better with a refurb and nice tyres. I will be going 5 stud later and they will go back on my del sol if i dont warm to them.

Bad news on the other engine. Did you have it mapped? Car looks pretty clean:nice:

Any track vids mate? 1/4 mile resuts ect?

No havent tracked it yet, need to get the 5 stud brakes, better tyres and suspension and then il take it to the track in summer time and see how it goes. Have a few videos il post up that i took myself lol, not the best quality but il see if i can upload them

I know its a pity but ah well its only an engine, theres worse things that can happen to people. I didnt get the chance to get it mapped, was just running the engine in and taking it very easy and it pooped itself.
Thanks just need to get the metal protected so it can last another 17 years :nice:

how low does the manifold sit to the ground? ive a black works bigtube header but thinkn on getting the skunk2 if the clearance is better

It does sit low, lower than a 4-2-1, I would say it would be about the same as the blackworks one as they are a similar design of 4-2-2-1 with two tubes sitting higher and two sitting lower. I havent scraped it yet but im going to put some sort of plate there to stop scraping or maybe an h brace.
