Did the Brean stages this weekend just gone for the first time.

Decided after saturday that i didnt like the event, lots of first gear corners and nowhere to carry speed and get the car loaded etc, so finished the day 33rd overall and 5th in class, which was rubbish to be honest.

Started the 2nd day not really with my heart in it, but the stages were alittle longer so got into it alittle more, using Hankook slicks as id worn out the Dunlops i was using at the last event, and not really impressed with them, but couldnt afford anything else, but got into it and the stage times were impressive, moved up to 2nd in class after 2 crews dropped out, lost a few seconds to the class leader on stage 7, one second on stage 8, 7 again on stage 9 after having a spin and had to reverse, then on stage 10 was being held up by a bmw, lost the backend under braking and parked it in a ditch....

Had to wait the last 2 stages before getting lifted out with a JCB and had the mess recovered back to service

So i now have a huge clean up and rebuild job to do, got the ecu out last night and was amazingly bone dry inside, but its been in the airing cupboard ever since, engine oil level is ok so no water in the engine but going to drain and flush it anyway aswell as the box.

Just gutted as i wasnt even enjoying the event as it was, but these things happen, loads of comments after about how clean it was before etc, and where the paddles and snorkel fit of course lol.

Someone came up to me afterwards and said he had seen the car on here and was gutted for me, which was nice to hear, unfortunatly i didnt get his name but he had a Bliss motorsport jacket on, so if he see's this just want to say thanks for coming over :nice:

Ben.

Gutted mate! looks like it could of come off alot worse looking at how close to that bridge you were, And it doesn't look THAT bad , Just a bit dirty! :)

Aslong as your engine etc is fine then I guess its just a case of getting back on the re-build!

Good luck getting it all sorted and look forward to seeing it back out rallying it again, You need to get some on-board footage next time :nice:

Cheers mate, can be fixed easily enough, just need to do an awful lot of cleaning out poo!

I took my new gopro camara, but they had run out of approval forms at scrutineering for me to run it, paperwork rubbish!!

:( its in a sorry state! with some TLC though she'll be back on all fours! atleast its getting used proper!! keep the motivation up mate.

Ah bummer. Good that your ok.

As said, some vids would be good to watch.

It looks like the sills and rollcage didn't sustain any damage so a new door, front panel and a slide hammer for the rear quarter should sort it out good as new.

Must've been quite difficult to get out of once you'd got swamped too! Could've been a lot worse though, if you'd rolled it into the ditch I'd hate to think what would have happened.

Glad you're alright and the car is repairable though.

Yes, thank fook you didnt roll it

That was my only thought as we went in, we went in on my side at quite an angle, but luckly it came back down to rest the right way up!!

Ouch that looks a sore one but at least it shouldn't be that expensive a fix, just gonna be a horrible clean up

Get some febreeze in there and the seat cleaned like mad before it stains with a horrid smell!

Holy cow but the thing is you are ok and material position are always replaceable

Sounds like you were battling hard that day, as above could have been much worse, shame about the admin! Hope you get it back on the road soon :nice:

Shame you binned it on your 1st outing but least its all superficial and everyone is ok.

Was worried the engine might be dead when I saw the 1st picture.

Keep us updated when you get it back on the mend :nice:

ouch! hope you get it fixed and back out! be a shame after all the work thats gone into it!

Gutted for you mate. At least the engine never sucked up any water though!
Definatly lucky you never rolled on the way into the ditch

Was the cars 3rd outing, didnt stay straight for long did it!!

Spent all evening out in the rain tonight working on it, inside is now back to the colour it should be

also pushed all the panels out to very roughly where they should be, which will do for the time being till its fixed properly

AND...,it runs, dried everything out, spun it over without the plugs in, not a drop, plugged the ecu back in and it fired up straight away )
Only downside is the re packable rear box is soaked, so the exhaust is loud and buzzy and sounds awful! So got to play with nasty fibreglass exhaust packing, horrible job!!

Roll on the next rally in 3 weeks!!
