Jus wondering guys how you first got into the car scene and what made you go with honda??

Dads been a mechanic all his life - its brushed off on me - always loved cars - my mates loved cars just always been around cars basically.

Honda love started when i was just a pup used to love old EG's and I was always looking at Honda's on the net and got sucked into the whole JDM scene in America back when i was like 16 (9 years ago) - always wanted one, when i passed my test I couldnt afford insurance on a Civic so i bought a Clio.

9 Months later I bought an EJ9 which i had for almost 3 years (hardly modded it cos i knew i wanted a VTi) I seen a guy called andy baird (all the Scottish members will know of him) driving his teg engined SSB EK (at the time) and I had to have one

Sold the EJ9 bought another Clio while i saved up then bought an 2000 SSB VTi

Done some mods / bought an Integra type-r - ended up stripping the teg down using the engine for the civic etc and parting out the shell and anything usable.

Had the VTi for 2 years B18C6'd it all the usual stuff then sold it when me and the mrs wanted a flat.

Never regretted anything as much as I regretted selling up now im in a position to save up i'll be buying an EK9 this time and plans are to make it 10x better than the last and i never intend on selling up next time.

because they're good fun to drive, parts are readily avaliable and i love the revy engines! :woot: only downside is the expensive insurance...

nice wee thread here dan son ;)

i always loved looking a the moddifed cars when i was younger and there loud exhausts and being a very car enthusiast minded family it was inevitable i would end up being a car addict lol however i will admit i have had a fair share of cars including:

1. 2004 peugeot 206 with full bodykit etc
2. 2007 vauxhall corsa sxi with irmscher bodykit
3. 2008 volkswagen golf mk5 with full bodykit etc
4. 2008 vauxhall corsa vxr
5. 2009 vauxhall corsa vxr
6. 2007 audi a3 1.9tdi
7. 2006 peugeot 206 1.4hdi
8. 1997 honda civic ej9 ( first project car )
9. 1999 honda civic jordan

With my current cars being my ek9 and evo 9 so i havent always been jap related i love my volkswagens and would love one day to own a g60 :)

Ha cheaz dan mate

I got into cars about 2 years ago proply as all my mates had these civics i new nout about n i had a clio sport they all went on about how fast they are n vtec n i didnt have a clue so looked into it n loe what i found so had to gwt me one first civi i ha was my eg lsi loved it but it didnt have a vtec engine so sold that n bought my ej9 same again didnt have a b16 so bought my crx and loved it ever since ive jus loved honda :)

cool thread

think my mate had a polo g60?? i aint a big vdub fan so aint too sure if it was a polo..

what got me into it was trying to find the most powerful car with the smallest sized engine for insurance reasons.. first time i ever felt a vtec was when i was with the lad i got my first vti off lol, and thought to myself "what the f**k is this!!" :D... id been driving a 1.4 306 for a year before that

now its just a addiction to the scene and respect these cars get

....When i went on holiday i was always able to name the cars on the motorways from the age of 6 onwards, its was geeky to say the least.
Also this wasn't helped by the fact that if something exotic or nice went past i was asked by either parent what it was. i never got it wrong it became sad to the point of i was able to name every car going past within a split second of seeing it.
this was at the age of about 9 or 10 :)

When i was 14 I remember going to a race day at snetterton when my uncle raced a suzuki swift Gti and ended up beating so many higher powered car's .
this converted me into thinking jap cars were not rust buckets and crap, but they were in fact so well engineered i had to see more...
I remember seeing a civic there and the noise of the thing made the hairs on my neck stand up as it roared past the pit lane....
from then on i thought there was something special about Honda's
specially as my unlce had jet ski's and boats and motor cross bikes all from honda and they were all amazing to be in and look at. also at this time my dad started to get into tuning his car's he had saab's for years but they werenothing to be laughed at one of them i remember was a black saab 9000 aero with 340hp i loved it but always argued round a track a little honda civic would eat him alive...

When i was 16 / 17 i watched The Fast and the Furious i knew it would be **** but it was a documentary about cars for me....
i remember the part where they have all the parts layed out on the garage floor to go onto the supra i actually paused it to see what parts were there, same with the part where the chap goes under the bonnet and starts listing parts to everyone gathered round.
I honestly wanted to be that guy, who could name all the parts...lol

basically from then on i was 17 and had a driving licence ended up getting a saxi vtr to start of the insurnace as soon as i had 1 year NCD civic vti it was, and i've been hooked on HONDA's ever since... and this forum daily makes me more into my honda's and appreciate them more aswell. and i have a far greater knowledge now of what the car is as opposed to being able to simple name it.
lol its an essay but you did ask :p
TBH if everyone rights loads it'll be a good read on a rainy day.

Bring on th next project as i wanna get properly stuck into this one

films like fast and the furious , my mate jasons dc2 and the first time I got a blast in an ek9 (cheers Gav) .

I don’t think anything in particular made me take an interest in cars, I have just always enjoyed them for whatever reason. I remember in school I always wanted a GT Turbo.

My younger brother became a mechanic and went through so many cars including an sir glass top crx.

I’d had a few cars in this period myself (inc Honda’s ) but then I ended up buying the crx and that was me settled with the Hondas really! Reliability as much as anything I suppose kept me going back to them after I sold the crx and a gt tdi golf thrown in there along the way.

Slightly off subject but the crx went to Scotland and as a lot of you guys are from there I was wondering if its still knocking about and what state it might be in now as it was in near enough mint condition when it left me?
Black with the reg G20 CRX.

When my 91 240sx broke down i was forced to buy a 4 dr. Civic eg and from that moment on i have owned
3 rsx-s
3 em1
2 tsx
1 eg hatchback
1 dc2 type r
1 dc2 gsr
Just to name a few.

Always loved cars and obviously growing up during the Gran Turismo/Fast and the Furious generation meant Jap cars have always got me going. For me I'm not a brand loyalist at all I just go for the best car in a particular sector:

1. Toyota Yaris S 1.0
2. Toyota Yaris T Sport 1.5
3. Nissan Skyline 25GT Turbo 2.5
4. Honda Civic Type R EK9 1.6

Then playing Grand torismo 2. Always found myself either in a race preped old Mini, civic or skyline of course. (edit: actualy sat on GT5 while i typed this :nice:)

Then i kept noticing a mint EG6 lowered on EK4 fan aloys parked down the road from my house as a kid.

First car was a 1380 camed, twin carbed, 83 mini, took me a month before it was in a hedge.
Then used my dads primera through to the 3rd year of my car technician training. After working on tones of differenct makes of cars and always looking up performance spec of everything i touched, found civics super easy to work on, never majorly go wrong and generally have the best performance in class.

Mate was selling a striped Uk EG6 with the interoir in bits and needing a bit of TLC £1100. At eighteen it was the best car in the world. (except the insurance £2600 but i payed it and was worth every penny. Think i covered 50k miles in the first year i had it.) That was the big step to the start of my obsesive intrest.

Since then been through
95 EJ2 coupe
92 EG6 SiRII (kept and current)
96 EJ9 1.4
fiesta Zetec S
94 EG6 vti
00 EM1 Vti coupe
93 EG6 VTi
89 CRX 16v
90 CRX vti
98 DB8 integra 4dr SiR-G
Charade 1.6 16v
98 WRX jap Ver5 280ps

Cars have always been my main intrest since childhood as it probably is with most the people on here. Never been a fashion/ image nut. It has always been about the facts, figures and capability of cars that intrested me and always will be. I have now left my job as a technician after 7 years to get another trade and try train as an electrician. The motor trade overhere is going nowhere, borring jobs recalls, diagnostics and servicing all day with crap pay. No real market gap for the need of tuner or anything of the sort over here as its too small of an island.

dad has always had fast cars, then i got a taste of vtec and that was it lol

l like cars. Cars go fast and make a lot of noise. This is very cool.....Well thats the basics of it anyway :D And i can't see myself getting bored of it :nice:

Thats the **** right there man, same never even been in to fasion full stop clothes or phones or music lol. just cold hard engines for me.
Also it was the same on gran turismo 4 A spec.
when i was about 15 i would tune up the cars and fiddle with the suspension settings and do tests on the same corner to see what improvement there was.
i had a mate who played aswell and basiaclly as we were so closely matched it meant we could perfectly test cars. and find out their stong points.
i remember spending hours on circuit de la sathe and doing 50mph - 150mph pulls and 50mph - 100mph pulls in top gear and then through the gears...
top speed runs 0 - 60 mph runs. haha.
All about the facts anf figures for me lol. if only i had the money to do this for real.
sorry to hear about your job man that sucks balls

very true, its just a bonus they look better than nearly everything on the road

but if i went over to corsa.org im sure theyd have a different opinion :D

I think am pretty much the same as everyone else on here. Ave always loved cars form as far back as i can remember. It used to de the one with twin exhaust or for if i was really lucky ones with four ha . You get that on a clapped out corsa now days.

But as i got older max power and Fast and the furious (I am watching it just now )came out i was rite in to the modified car seen. Bodykits big wheels and big exhaust but i a grew older and i started to understand how engines worked it was all about the engines and power :D.
Now being rite in to my car ave been learning all about suspension and braking and all the other bits as i dont really work with anything work with anything like that in my job. But i am learning , thanks to the wealth of knowledge on this site :D

As for cars am with bigshoe i always want a R5 GT Turbo. But didnt actually own a car till i was 20 and that was a joint venture with my father. As my mother would not let me own a car when i was out the country for 8 months of the year Lol (Your not leaving a car sitting out side the house for months on end blah blah blah)
So me and the father bought a Saab 93 1.8t. That lasted almost a year ant i decided i wanted my own car at this time it was a EG Sir II but i got landed with the Saab Lol
So i though i will have a good a tinkering with this , Saab got Lowered all round , 2.5" cat back system , custom made CAI :D Oh and a Plug and play map :D

As for me and hondas i always loved them. I was always looking at EG Sir and when i work on the cruise ships i was in and out of Southampton there was a Import acution there i was always looking in for a civic Lol. But as time passed i moved to EK and EK9s

I decided there was no need to me to have a Saab so thats was time for an EK9 , but ended up being an EK4 Turbo aha

And now am here.........

P.S sorry the the spiel

Thats just cos they dont want to admit it......

when you catch them drooling they quickly pick their jaw off the floor and carry on pretending not to have noticed you.

In a few months time they will appear in the new members section on a honda forum

hahaha OMG i thought i was the only one who done that. :drive: I was always comparing CRX to EG6 and so on throughout different power to wieght ratio's. And gear ratio's. I think i have a used EG6 in every colour/year ect. And each year newer had an extra 1hp when tuned.
