Charlie's B18 EG (sorry it isnt an EK)

Today is the day!
After cleaning and prepping the block all day yesterday the engine is ready to go back together. A new member of this forum and a great lad and friend of mine (K20 Man) is coming over to help me and offer some expertise.
There will be some minor changes made besides replacing standard parts.
• Starting from the bottom up
• N1 pulley (power steering etc now removed)
• Lightened flywheel
• Stage 3 paddle clutch
• Buddy club 2 layer gasket
• Head skimmed (with the above gasket looking to raise the comp from 10.0 to 10.4ish)
• EK9 cams
• Short shifter
• Hondata S300 ecu

:nice:

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
Pics needed!!!

Respect!

Sorry about the delay guys been real busy! Finally got a few pics of the engine back in. Will take some better pics at the weekend when i get a chance to clean it ect. As you can see it looks a bit messy with hand prints etc from putting it in. Also want to tidy wiring and pipes up more... Anyway here are a few to give you all an idea what it will be like.

I love how simple and tidy the engine bay looks - really nice work!

What engine mounts are they?

Keep us updated ...

Josh.

Just using the standard mounts cleaned up, always found them to be ok.

Yer there are a LOT of subtle things going on to make it simple but you have to sit and look to notice them. For example the ABS is removed as are over 30 holes in the bay, so is the wiring and brake lines etc. I think the colours also help to make it look simple by only having the silver, black and blue it creates a simple look, i did have the rocker red but i thought it looked too busy so went for the black.

Question now is should i put the plug cover on or leave it off? :nice:

After sitting looking at the car a wondering if i should do all the body work and paint it a nice JDM yellow colour with carbon bonnet and boot and put the trim back in i snapped out of it! What a silly idea!

SOOO the next issue is "how can i save some more weight?"

As those who have been following this post know the car is already stripped out etc. I must get it lighter as i am focused on doing a 12.99 1/4 mile.

Nothing satisfies me more than sitting next to evo's etc as they look at me with a shocked face after having a stupid smug grin on their face only seconds earlier!

Im looking for ideas how to make the car lighter???

Ideas are as follows.

Remove the spoiler and replace with a standard one. (Also to reduce drag)
003-2.jpg

Cut the bumper up slightly higher (Also to reduce drag)

Remove the insides of the doors
001-2.jpg

And boot (fitting pins)

Also thinking about using only 1 seat in the car.

Fitting bike mirrors, Removing sunroof.

MORE IDEAS PLEASE GUYS?

i cant think of anything else lol.
could i recommend bringing the exhaust up. it looks a bit silly being that low
