Civic EG6 SIR2 overhaul.

Thanks for all the kind words guys :)

Little update...

So after reading on a few forums about people blowing there engines up on track due to oil starvation i decided i needed to baffle my sump and sharpish what with all the track days i got booked up and done.

Baffle welded in

Had the outside of the sump high temp painted and lacquered

Got the sump re fitted Friday and very nearly broke my thumb in the process so was rolling around on the floor for half hour in a bit of pain :censored: :censored: but still struggled on through and got it all refitted :disbelief fresh oil and filter done too.

Epic EG bud , just sat and read through the full build. The attention to detail is out of this world :D

Really good build the attention to detail is quality

Love this eg!

Thought i had chucked some pics up of my trackday from the 24th of June but it appears not, unfortunately i didn't get any on board footage due my friend only having the suction cup for the GoPro on him and so not aloud to use it :(

Car performed so well even surprised some of my friends who are all against front wheel drive and Hondas but there was so much grip and most defiantly a good starting point for me. So now to tweek the front setting's a little and give it another bash at brands on the 15th of August :)

looks great mate, this car has had so much love thrown at it..

in all hoensty though you must have spent SO much money on this car.. i'm talking serious money..

A lot of love, i just like things to be clean and put together properly

I have spent a fair old bit yes, but its been worth it as its so much fun to drive, just needs a little power increase really.

Little bored this afternoon so decided to go tinker with the car,

Decided to finally rip the chiller unit out of the heater matrix as i no longer have AC. Was a little dirty behind the glove box to say the least

Chiller unit removed
DSC05259.jpg

Empty chill unit box, had to cover some holes up as there's a drain tube at the bottom and the big hole for the AC pipes to enter the box.

Gave everything a good clean and reassembled but while i was in that location i decided to try out my Apexi power FC to make sure it all worked (obviously didn't start the car)

Also re plumbed the rocker cover breather and black box on the back of the block to atmosphere. In the pic as well is the new Odessy battery i fitted which soon will be going in the back of the car behind the passenger seat to keep the weight low down as possible.

Excuse the catch can was literately all i had to hand lol as i was chasing an idle problem which turned out to be the PCV valve. Can is a temp.
DSC05263.jpg

Took the throttle body off and gave it a clean and removed the FITV from under the throttle body and made a metal plate up to block the holes off from atmosphere, reassembled and new gasket fitted to the throttle body and IACV. Intake temps are so much better and cold starts the car still idles high around 1500 till the engine is warm so no problems on cold morning starts. Also removed the coolant lines to the Idle control valve so that the intake temps are reduced even further.

And last on the list i fitted my TRS tow strap, bolted right through the bottom of the chassis leg where the oem tow point is with a very long and big bolt so no chance of ripping that off the car, cut a very neat and tidy slot in the side vent for the strap to poke out and when not in use i simply fold it up and poke it back in the hole so its left with just what's pictured below. Unlike many mine is for a function not for show!

Car is off to Tom @ TGM Friday for some work so that the car is ready for Mase to map in the second week of October

ace! but why the catrch can? all that comes outthe rocker cover breather is dirty air.

Catch can is more or less for the crank case breather but i just routed both pipes to the same location as it looks that bit neater and its somewhere for the oily residue to go (if any) so put them both together and used a Motocross air filter to stop any crap getting in the can yet still let it breathe

Eg6 makes a statement to most eg's love it bro wish i can build something like this and race it at button willow. Clean and detailed. Keep it up.

I would love to go and race my car round button willow as looks like such an awesome track :nice:

Well went to TGM friday and seen Tom to have my valve clearances done, Engine timing checked at the same time and the GEO tweaked. First time i been to TGM but i had been to a couple of there race meetings, was all so recommended to me by a friend whos good mates with Tom and im glad i went as Tom is an awesome guy who knows his ****!

Out of 16 valves only 5 needed adjusting and kept saying how clean the inside of the engine itself is for a car that's 18 years old he said the engine is like new :) timing was spot on too. Before we started on the GEO Tom decided to take me out in my car to see how it was and **** me!! Toms a racing driver and boy did he scare the **** out of me  bastard! anyway he advised me to leave the geo alone as its perfect on the road and couldn't ask for it to be much better but to tweek the suspension so spoke to him for a while about different things and then adjusted the dampening, the car already has a fair bit of frontwards rake too. After this the car has so much more front end grip on the road that i couldn't believe such a small change made such a big improvement and the feedback has improved as well.

So looking to get back out on track after mapping and get tweaking with the suspension more :D

Couple pics.
