Dans EK9 Type R

cracking pics dan, i'd keep that novice sticker on :D

hahaha your right i should have kept it on, damit, that would have been funny! lol.

Because i had never been around Brands hatch they made me put it on! Must have looked funny getting overtaken by a novice  After 3 laps i was going good. Good old Honda, I must have done at least 30 Laps, without skipping a beat! Had to stop a few times due to a few reliable Fords he he

Cheers Gav!

Good to see you there Dan, shame I didnt get a pax due to the Ford closing the track early, feel sorry for the Caterham that hit the wall after hitting the oil, could have been any of us

See you at the next one mate :nice:

Most definitely Chris, Good to see you again too :)

Oh no, did one of the Caterhams hit the wall? When did this happen? I assume when we were eating? Which one was it?(colour) Thats such a shame!

Yes i'll see you at the next one. Oh, when your car is ready let us know mate and i'll come and meet you up your neck of the woods :nice:

Apparently the Caterham caught the oil as he hit the straight, about 7.35, oil was all round the track, not sure which Caterham. Will bell you when its done.

Mr Chese has just put his vid up on HOT, looks like you were moving well mate :drive:

Just checked it out mate, very cool video :nice: Thanks Chris.

Mark is a brilliant driver, His car is very well set up too. Cant wait for the next one :naughty:

Very small update i thought i'd share as may interest some of you.

As ive stopped spending money on my EK9 as im more then happy now with the way it performs in all areas. I would need to start spending alot more money to get any gains worth mentioning about and to me isnt really worth it. Money is now going on other Drag starlet project 500BHP+......

Anyway i'll stop boring youz, here a couple pictures with the new intake system.
Ive put some fine mesh on the end of the ducting where it meets the intake pipe to TB, to stop stones etc going in. I have to say it sounds absolutely mental! Such a grunty sound to the engine now without the filter. Like a proper race car. Good fun.

Performance wise, not so sure yet on actually differences, at first felt like it lost response but after a few day feels great. Pulls lovely. Im keeping this system as feels like it works well and as said the sound it just simply addictive.

wow the starlet looks great fun. i have never seen or heard of that conversion and have been into the little starlets for a while.
its sooooo common to see td04 or td05 or ct12 now its really fresh to see that 2.0 mr2 lump.
i used to own a little starbo got it to run 190hp on the stock turbo but it was maxing it out...... but even with tat power it was rapid i put some Tein suspension on it and i'm sure it'd keep up with touring cars....yours would eat them all day long.
yo umust be running something like 380 - 400hp / Ton

put it this way a porsche 911 turbo has a power to weight ratio of 310 hp / ton. the Veyron is only 500 hp/ton so when you have 500hp at the engine.

wooooooooo weeeeeeeee

haha, yeah ive had the starlet for about 5 1/2 years now and your right there TD04/5 etc so common. Most peoples route. I thought i'd go wild.

And with the 320BHP set up yeah i estimate around at least 350BHP+ per tonne assuming the slight extra weight of the 2.0liter. It was pretty crazy alright when on road, nothing i came across could out accelerate me. Me Bros 600cc GSXR bike, bored and tuned to 700cc was a good race. I could piss on 600cc bikes. :naughty:

With 500BHP+ it should be interesting  Its going to take alot of thought about how im going to put enough power down. I have alot of plans/ideas in the pipe line. From boost increments to wide arches to suit larger spaced out tires etc etc.... We will see how it goes.

And yeah youve probably not heard of the conversion as its tonnes of work and very very rare. I was first in the UK and i believe there is one other person but thats suffering lots of problems, wasnt done properly at all it seems.

If you want to know more check my build thread on TGTT.com.... You'll find it easy enough.

:thanks: for your comment and interest.

thats a sweet setup on the air intake dan have you thought about cutting the foam filter to the diameter of the ducting and sillykoooning it on the end (inside of pipe) instead of meshing it???? dunno if it'd work but would help filter out dust and small bugs etc

Haha i love spitting out bugs!! I hadnt thought about that but in a way that would probably work the same as the original set. The mesh has small holes so in theory less restriction. It is very fine mesh so nothing big enough could go into the engine. Alot of the turbo set ups use mesh on the end with no problems. I mean ive been using this set up now for about 10 days or so and have done a fair amount of motorway miles already and driven the car alot, seems fine. I think its definitely made the car a bit more powerful. Can definitely feel it up top of rev range.

thats kool just goes to show all these stupidly expensive panel filters ie spoon are not the greatest thing:))
