Here is a couple Of Dyno Graphs Of an Ek9 Running A couple of different Intakes and also Running the Intakes With Spoon Ecu + Stock Pre-Facelift Ecu .

There is alot of talk and Mistaken People Saying That The enclosed Air intakes are better than a Open Filter's on a 3 Inch Intake arm .

If you look at the following Dyno Print-Outs You Will See i Have Stated On Each Stated on the dyno Sheet Which Ecu And Air Intake The Car Is Running at the time of Dyno Run .

These tests have all been carried out On The Same Day & On The Same Car .

Spoon Ecu + Blox Velocity Stack with Filter = 185.5 Bhp & 123.2 Ft/Lb Torque
Spoon Ecu + ITG Maxogen Air Intake = 171.8 Bhp & 109.5 Ft/Lb Torque
Spoon Ecu + Couture Auto 70 Euro Intake = 180.8 Bhp & 119.0 Ft/Lb Torque
Stock Ecu + Blox Velocity Stack With Filter = 173.9 Bhp & 116.5 Ft/Lb Torque
Stock Ecu + ITG Maxogen Air Intake = 163.4 Bhp & 106.8 Ft/Lb Torque
Neptune Ecu + Standard Airbox = 183.6 Bhp & 113.6 Ft/Lb Torque

It Goes To Show That The ITG Air Intakes and Other Expensive Box'ed in Air Intakes Such As The Mugen Airbox Etc Are Not All What there made out to be and that the Cheap Option In The End Seems to Work Best For Better Airflow and Velocity.

I Have Also Put In a Graph Of A Ek9 With Neptune Ecu + Standard AirBox

Any Feedback or your own Views on this please dont hesitate to leave a Comment .

I tested The Mugen On My Old Ek4 B18 , Made 3 Bhp Less Than A Top Fuel Intake ,. And Then With The Lid Taken Off Of The Mugen AirBox It Made 4bhp more Than With The lid On .

These test were carried out on my 98 ek9

Totally standard engine internally 160km on it

Spoon sports 4-2-1 de cat and mugen twin loop

We have proven that the itg maxogen is shite it made at least 9bhp less than a cheap ebay intake !

Also proven that the spoon ecu is 10bhp + more than standard the afr was tidier too but not perfect as its a generic map.

Please remember all tests carried out on 95ron pump fuel and would not take full advantage of the spoon sports ecu

also there is no heat soak if you use a cold air feed straight to the open filter

velocity stack = power !!

The Intake Stack Filter Sits Perfectly Over In The Far Corner Behind The Headlight And with the Custom Heat Shield Box I Have Made Should Really Minimise Heat Soak Once Wrapped In Thermal Sheets and a Good Cold Feed Ran From The Bumper to the Hole You See In The Corner Of Engine Bay:D.

Great comparison fairplay. What a let down from the ITG!

I did back to back tests of the spoon ecu and standard, there was only 0.5bhp difference

These tests have all been carried out On The Same Day & On The Same Car .

Spoon Ecu + Blox Velocity Stack with Filter = 185.5 Bhp & 123.2 Ft/Lb Torque
Spoon Ecu + ITG Maxogen Air Intake = 171.8 Bhp & 109.5 Ft/Lb Torque
Spoon Ecu + Couture Auto 70 Euro Intake = 180.8 Bhp & 119.0 Ft/Lb Torque
Stock Ecu + Blox Velocity Stack With Filter = 173.9 Bhp & 116.5 Ft/Lb Torque
Stock Ecu + ITG Maxogen Air Intake = 163.4 Bhp & 106.8 Ft/Lb Torque
Neptune Ecu + Standard Airbox = 183.6 Bhp & 113.6 Ft/Lb Torque

Neptune ecu+ standard airbox, that's dyno sheet from your car correct and not of car you tested different intakes+ spoon ecu on today?

ITG very big let down very restrictive have one on my ep3 will be coming off

We tested a spoon ecu vs standard ek9 ecu various times against a standard dc2 from rolling start and the standard ecu proved over and over again that the car was quicker without the spoon ecu

Well these test were carried out on my car and spoon ecu works well. Over 10bhp gains and these were back to back runs. Angus what do you think of the figures 185.5 and 123?

Another question. Was the car run on the dyno with the bonnet up?

Means nothing , This Is dyno graph Comparison , Every car no matter what power higher or lower drives different on the road , Also Gear Changes , Weight etc is Big Factors That come into a race , Its Not Testing when your road Racing a B18 , Doesnt prove a thing . This Is to show the lads exact differences on the day as i have said , Same Day / Same Car , Its there On Paper.

As dean said bonnet was down and 3 runs on each setup. Minimal heat soak were its located filter is hardly warm to touch after run! Arm stays cold too as is wrapped
