I am struggling to shift the brake dust on my ek9's wheels.

After just a day or two of driving they become caked with dust (and noo.. im not too hard on the brakes)

But the wheel cleaners i've tried so far are a bit gash. Any suggestions would be well received!

:blinx:

I use Megs hot rims its really good stuff altho dont leave it on the wheels for too long.

once they are cleam put some poorboys wheel sealant on them to make them easier to cleam again

i just use a mit and soap but i do have matt black sw388's so doesnt really show up lol

billberry ftw!

Thanks guys, 2 votes for the same product... think I will give it a try.

Oven cleaner works really well

I have tried cillit bang before, having got any lying around at the moment though. Great all round degreaser though. Only thing I have found that beats it was some 'old' very high concentrated chemical degreaser that melted paint brushes and latex gloves. I 'found' it. Shame it ran out.

Never tried Megs products, are they worth the premium attached?

Any advice for cleaning anodised wheels? Don't want anything that will damage the finish, stiff brush and cutting compound sounds a bit scary.... Just my TE37's need a right good clean, my HC+ pads produce quite a bit of brake dust!

Also got ltd edition aluminium/CF centre caps that are a bitch to remove, so ideally don't want anything too acidic or abrasive, but that will get them clean again.

Problem with the anodised finish I find is that if you don't clean the dirt off, eventually it can stain the finish.

Will bilberry be my best bet?

Bilberry is perfect for "delicate" wheels i find using it 2:1 dilution works perfect, but you could use it neat and it'll still be safe

Thanks mate, I'll pick some up and see how I go with 2:1 first :nice:

yeah i water down the billberry, when i used to use it on my oem ek9 wheels.

i bought some auto glym stuff for my brother as we run out and wanted to get some quick.

used the whole spray and got nowhere slight shine but loads of brake dust still there.
dont get auto glym in over words lol

Just a thought if you're giving them a good clean up get a good sealant or detergent proof wax like colli's 486 or finish kare 1000p hi-temp sealant on them. The dust won't stick as much and cleaning will be a doddle :nice:

Thanks for the advice bud :nice:

The RC6's giving you trouble? They are crazy dusty!

Just cleaned my Rega's with Bilberry and a stiff brush, you need to be quite rough so you'll have to use a bit of cutting compound to take out bristle scratches afterwards.

Ha just a bit!

White multispoke alloys were not a good choice to put on with those crazy pads.

I've never seen anything like it. :nono: Bloody good for stopping though even if they do make a mess.

lol @ your previous thread! I should have seen that before

2:1 is plenty for the bilberry, I water mine down way more than that and still brings up oem ek9 alloys perfect! so a 1L bottle lasts forever :)

AUTO GLYM WHEEL CLEANER......!!!!

and for people like JOSHM88 they do a Custom wheel cleaner...

I have always used it.
put it this way my grandpa has been using it since the early 70's and swears by it...

spray on to dirty wheel's --- leave for a minute --- whip with a brush and then sprinkle water over it --------- Stand back and be amazed.... its like fresh paint coming through...

honestly guys its better than all these new rip off ones like NANO technology ones...PFFtttt

put simply AutoGlym WORKS !!!
