you had a 4EFTE? that's on my wishlist right now! I want to have it mounted on a corolla ae110 4dr as a sleeper that gets me around, does good mpg and runs quick as well. well money does not exactly grow on trees here so...
how's the 1300cc turbo compared to your EK in terms of performance and fuel economy? was your starlet modded? I've only driven 2 4EFTEs, for some reason the modded one felt less powerful the one with just a couple of bolt-ons...
yeah it was the 4E-FTE... it was modded..
front mount intercooler with hard pipes. cold air intake, screamer pipe/decat 2.75 straight through exhuast custom made, boost controller set to 0.95 bar. uprated actuator, bored out wastegate, standard CT9 turbo with the wastegate bored out and i suspect there was an aftermarket ECU tune hiding somewhere as it felt much quikcer than a chaps i went in with the same mods.. so i belive it had had a tune..
It was a great little car very tourquey engine for 1300cc, i have a mate who has a stock glanza v at the minute and all we did was the override the boost cut in 1st and 2nd gear mod and it flies... its so quick of the mark. as mine needed to time to spool he is simply instant GO..
i belive in the toyota world the boys go for the 5E engine and then turbo it so they have 1500cc.. from the RAV4 i belive...
compared to the EK4 i simply can't compare it.....
Vtec is perfect linear power and always fels like it has grip.
The starlet had tourque steer and squirmed like a bitch on full throttle. the wheels were always fighting for traction in 1st and 2nd and a bit in 3rd..
All the power is a surge from 2500 - 6500
where as the Vtec is as you know power from 5500 - 8400...
depends how you want your car's to react.
i persoanlly like to change down and rev high.
where as my mate likes to sit in 3rd at 30mph and have instant go so he likes his turbo glanza.
