>>ek9 daily road/track build up from the start<<

glad to see it finally arrived mate :) look forward to seeing it fitted and the results

I'm Starting to strip the box out of the car tomorrow so will update soon enough. It will also be easy to fit the sump and do an oil change at the same time

Shoulda been out already! :p

You are right Jack but I went and watched the Drifting at Bishopscourt after I seen you yesterday.

Worked on the car for a few hours today, got the gearbox out and fitted the new Mugen sump along with a new Spoon heat barrier. Also installed Energy shifter bushings and a new Vtec solenoid gasket

The hard part of stripping and hopefully rebuilding the box starts tomorrow

lol that battery is tiny! think im going to try and change the FD in my gearbox soon so i'll be keeping a close eye on how you get on! :nice:

Thats batterys mental! How much was that? At least its out now mate! Let the fun begin :D

good luck with the box mate, mine was a real **** lol the wee clip at the top kept closing after i opened it but got there in the end lol

Took one or 2 pics Ricky incase I forgot how things went back together

I have got the gearbox stripped and rebuilt today with all of the new parts. It was a fair bit more difficult than I thought it was going to be but I managed to get it all back together in the end! I'm going to install the box tomorrow and hopefully it works

Because I don't have any experience building these there is the possibility of something not being quite right but fingers crossed it will be ok. The mainshaft is turning and it seems to be selecting gears with a screwdriver in the changer but time will tell:nerv:

Well I had an eventfull day today with the gearbox but the good news is that it is in the car and running smoothly:D

1st of all I installed the gearbox back into the car and everything else along with it so it takes a while, then DISASTER! I tried to run through the gears with out turning the car on and it got into a couple of gears ok and others it didn't and then it just seemed to lock up and it wouldn't select anything.

soo... Back out again and another complete strip down. Got the box opened up and everything seemod in place. I ran through each syncro and the 5th/reverse syncro wouldnt move up and the syncro was very tight. After stripping the shaft down and re-assembling it carefully it turns out that I may have had the locknut too tight (after following the correct torque setting). With everthing sliding on the shafts again I built the box back up and sealed it

The only thing I could do was to go ahead and put the car back together again and try it :nerv: Everything worked great and all gears were selecting and driving on axle stands

Took it for a drive and its shifting smooth, so Im gona take it easy to run it in 1st and then see how it really goes. I now feel like I could build another box without any problems as I now have some experience and it was something so simple that went wrong the 1st time

good stuff glad to see you got it sorted and that if anything ever goes wrong with my box you can fix it ;) haha

how badly damaged was the syncro
