EK9 Racecar

Nice work, just have to try and keep it shiney now!

Started fitting the manifold this afternoon.

I love how simple to work on the EK9 is, such a well built car.

Removing the manifold took no time at all, will give the engine block a good clean before fitting the Toda.

While I'm doing the manifold, I'm fitting baffles to the sump. I've decided to make my own baffles cause I think paying £30 for some tin plate is a bit of a rip. I posted a thread about it in the engine section. @oifovo has been very helpful and made me a template for the baffles which I will try out next week.

Also a friend is welding up the crack in the ARC for me.

Thanks for looking at my thread. :D

Took the sump into work today and gave it a clean. Then started making the baffles. Printed out the template thanks to @oifovo :thanks:

Cut them out and glued them to card to make it a stronger template.

Then test fitted the templates in the sump. Spot on! :))

Be sure to clean it out like your life depends on it after welding
I found Bits of weld spatter like to hide between the standard baffle bit and the outer skin, I found it a good idea to tap around the edges with a small hammer to vibrate and debris out of crevices

Would you mind sharing those templates?

Stunning work you are doing! Keep up :)

I bought my sump baffles on Ebay for £15 with shipping to Denmark :)

Thanks man :nice: Yeh I was looking at some on ebay for around that price but thought "hey I could make that?" we shall see but the template is good :))

Cracking job on the mani dude, as above, wish I had the patience for that level of detailing! Mine needs the same treatment as yours over the winter, panels off and rust treatment / prevention but will get there eventually!
Will be following this with great interest - keep up the good work! :nice:

Love the '46 flags above the bonnet!! VR is the man!.....if only MM didn't mess about this season...:angry2:
Are you a biker too?

Yes VR all the way! Marc was a pain in the last rounds, really gutted for Rossi as I think it was his chance for no 10 title. Yeh I am, used to race Mx and now just have a gpz500 that I use.

Started cutting out the Main piece today, just some fine tuning and filing and all should be dandy.

Well managed to get the baffles finished today and tacked in :nice:

Had to do some of alterations of the original template to get it to fit perfectly. I even moved the winglet that sits near the sump Bung back a bit as it wasn't really going to do allot where it was, so moved it a bit to towards the centre of the sump and also angled it so it directs the oil to the pick up.
Will test fit it tonight and will fit it up proper on the weekend :nice: then fit the Toda :x: if all goes to plan!

Well the sump fits  result, very happy with the outcome and no expense at all!

Also test fitted the ARC..... To get it to fit nicely is going to require some brackets being made.
Managed to pick up some nice cotton real rubber mounts which I'll use to mount the box.
Got some new coupling hoses coming tomorrow too.
I think I'll have the sump and the manifold on by Saturday afternoon, but the ARC is going to take a little longer.

Has anyone else fitted an ARC before?

I had one before, just the box ,and had no filter, mad money just for filter so I brought it to my local motor factors to size it to one of there 6 euro ones lol ,160 dollars or something for just arc filter ,
Anyways the bracket is tacked on top and bolted to were it's normally fitted,
I ended up selling it for 90 euro and got top fuel induction one .

If you look closely it's like a v shape and is bolted to two holes on shock tower.

Thanks for the picture :blinx:
The mounts on mine are in a different place though, and the elbow pushes the Airbox closer to the wing. I'm starting to think I've been miss sold the wrong ARC :( but I'll make it fit :nice:

I'd say your car will love it when on , alot nicer with the filter and rare bit of kit too , not to mention pricey
