hi guys just wanted to know whether an ek9 shifter would be of any benefit to my ek4? anyone know whether it would be as short as an itr shifter?

thanks!

i prefer the factory shifter of the integra GSR USDM, its shorter throw but not so short that you start to grind gears or that the bottom side of the shifter hits the exhaust.

isnt the ek9 shifter the same as an itr one? like blinx said id personally prefer an oem honda shifter. Im sure there must be SOME difference, as an ek4 shifter is black, whereas a ek9 one is silver, so they arent the same??

na iv drove 2 of my m8 ek9's and the shifters are shorter on the 9. iv got an ek4 to

hmmm... friends drive ek4s and to me, they're roughly the same. if different it must be marginal.

thought so, how much shorter? (if thats an answerable question!?) worth changing to?

its not that much shorter but does feel better than the ek4. dont think its worth changin 2. prob get one of ebay try it out see what u think plus they are cheap but dont know how well they fit. would be good if somebody has an after market short shifter to put up a post see how they feel and like it

The EK9 shifter is indeed different and shorter. It is also the dual bend version vs. the standard EK4 single bend.

We've tried fitting a USDM ITR shifter to a 6th gen chassis before and it required chopping the bottom-most part of the shifter where it attaches to the fork on the shift rod. The EK9 one does not require this.

We could have technically stretched that fork on the shift rod but it would have caused a reduction in smoothness during shifts. This is what eBay shifters are notoriously known for. They are a universal application that does not distinguish between models and are largely shaped for twincam Integras.

Ive been looking for more info on this topic, nothing else other than this thread.

Is anyone able to confirm if the EK9 shifter would be a benefit and noticeable updgrade on an EK4?

Thanks

just want to know, what a different feels using single or dual bend short shifter, which is the best...now, im looking the Skunk2 shortshifter...

Here's mine. Please excuse the gouge marks on it, some idiot put an aftermarket gear knob on it at some stage.

Currently using Buddy Club Racing Spec Shifter, its awesome!

Cool, so it is different from the EK4 one then.

Anyone got one kicking around that they want to offload?

I prefer the feel of a DC2 shifter, they seem to have a bit more bend than an EK9 one and a slightly shorter throw

That's after driving my mates 96 spec a few times

So will the EK9 dual bend shifter be a direct replacement for an EK4 single bend? As in, no modification is needed?

As ive read the DC2 shifter needs to be filed down somewhere to make it fit the EK linkage.
