exedy clutches

Providing you dont down change like an animal, the oem clutch will be fine on track.

ar rite ok cheers! so no need 2 uprate clutch untill the standard ones dead.

Should be fine, the reason most uprate is because their box is apart and they change as many components as possible to save on time & money later. If nothing is worn yet...no need to fix.

I had a exedy organic stage 1 clutch in my ek4 vti and after about 2000 miles in started to judder ever so slightly when pulling away but it stopped doing it after another 2-3000 miles ,it's supposed to be common on these clutchs and i payed top dollar for mine as well, it was'nt a fleebay job

hihi...just got my exedy flywheel...and judders....my question is...besides the annoyance of the juddering....will it affect the engine???....

Thanks...

won't affect the engine itself, but I would watch out for the engine mounts.

Cyrix12...do you mean Exedy stage 1 clutch or did you just install the Exedy flywheel only?

hihi...that's great to hear....always happen at the start when i pull my ek...after a while....its gone....

is it becos the flywheel is not properly balanced??

Hihi...i got the whole OEM exedy set....OEM exedy clutch plus the lighten exedy flywheel.....sad to say....both from ebay....

I was talking to some1 about clutches and majority of juddering appears to be down to the fact that break in period was not done long enough and that in some cases it was down to new clutch old flywheel which is worn in to old clutch. I'm going to risk the stage 1 with light weight flywheel when i do my B18 swap. Doesn't matter what performance part it is IMO because there will always be some1 out there that has broken it or slates it. Every1 one drive differently.

hihi...so yours has no juddering already??...solved??

Mine had judder right from the start, installed at 74k, now on 90k and no change. Going to having a chat with my tuner, probably going to get an AP clutch with a Kaiten Super Karui flywheel after crimbo, totally sick of impersonating a kangaroo at every corner

Note: TGM's race DC5 runs a standard clutch..

The integra type r clutch as standard is a very very good piece of kit

its a hit or miss with the exedy clutches.
i personally have had no problems with mine, however, i know chris(Hiatch) has had problems with judder

thanks racingangel for clearing that up!:nice: what would your first choice of clutch and flywheel for a car that would be used as a daily driver and the odd track day?

flywheel = fidanza aluminum

clutch = Exedy 3 puck thick disc - but only cuz I'm a bit psycho.

If you wanted the so called best of both worlds, I would recommend going for the centerforce dual friction unit. Light pedal and has held power up to 300whp for us.

Otherwise, if you're really spendy, I'd look into a full carbon clutch, the only downside other than the cost is that they don't recommend you use it for drag racing at all.

I need a new clutch on my EG6 aswell, I'm consider to get a original DC2 one, this stock clutch perform great in trackday use and is very durable.

Nothing wrong with this suggestion either. I think a lot of people are strung up on buying race parts for mostly street use.

I only suggest the puck clutches because the full face ones just feel sloppy/slow in engagement after having driven puck units. Again, it's not for everybody, it's my personal preference and I'm willing to live with the compromises on a daily basis.
