exedy clutches

lot of people dont realise that clutches can be down to personal preference, plenty out there for all setups

"The integra type r clutch as standard is a very very good piece of kit"

end of story, perfect for 90-95% of setups out there and agree 110% with that statment

i debated what to do many years ago when my clutch went and should have bought oem itr kit but wanted that bit more so bought uprated ACT which claimed only very slight increase in pedal effort and somthin like can take almost double torque oem can

regretted since day it was fitted but still run it about 3 years later, act cus service is joke (another story) but basically pedal effort needed is prob 3x that needed for oem which is main raeson why i hate it, its also little harsh/brutal when shifting when on track etc but that doesnt bother me too much

i was never gonna have 2x oem torque so wtf i bought it i dont know but ragingangel statement below perfectly sums up my decisions and nearly all others

"I think a lot of people are strung up on buying race parts for mostly street use"

if my clutch did go again i would now consider oem itr, helix or ap racing as fine for most and good value, others id like for better feel and save weight would carbon types that someone like ats offers but very expensive and could never justify cost

Thinking of changing my gearbox and while its down I'm going changing the clutch and flywheel. The ITR kit doesn this include clutch and fly.Whats the diff between ek9 clutch and fly also where can these kits be got?

OEM clutch kit = pressure plate, disc, pilot bearing

aftermarket clutch kit = pressure plate, disc, pilot bearing, flywheel

I suggest you get the ITR OEM clutch and look for a lightweight aluminum flywheel. Don't forget to replace the pilot bearing and throwout bearing and to use Honda's high temp urea grease.

hihi....just a quick question....is the ITR clutch same as the ek9 clutch??...if not....wat is the diff??

In that sense, can i use the exedy lightened flywheel with the ek9 clutch set??

Thanks

I'm using Exedy HD Pressure plate + stg1 clutch + bearing change + ACT flywheel. Never had any Judder or problems from begining.

would this make the engine run rough having the lightest flywheel you can find?

The only difference is the revs will drop quicker when clutch is dis-engaged. So if you granny shift on the street, revs will fall off for the original smooth engagement.

To fix this problem, just shift and engage the clutch quicker.

The lightest flywheel ive seen available was 3.8kgs but cant remember the brand. I could be mistaken though...

I have just bought a new Exedy S1 kit, can anyone tell me what else is worth replacing/uprating at the same time?

Thanks in advance :)
