fd2r brembos into ek9?

hey all
does any1 know if this mod is feasable?:please:

im not sure its feasable to get a seconf hand set of brembos of an FD2

but anything is possible if you throw enough money at it

^^ yes if you have the money and some big wheels it's possible, you can buy them new from honda :nerv:

Do the Brembos use the a similar setup to the stock EK9 brakes where the bracket holds the pads and the caliper simply fits over the top? Or does the bracket simply hold the caliper and the pads are held direct by the caliper?

Should be able to confirm for you in the next couple days, got a new set of Project Mu B-spec pads to fit to the front of my dads FD2 so can measure them up :)

BUT

Can't really see this being possible without using MASSIVE wheels, FD2 has 18's as standard and the clearance isn't great, they are a very wide caliper too

My car with the Spoon setup can outbrake his car by far, be interesting to see how it performs with the new pads though, standard ones seem a bit crap, considering it uses 330mm discs i've had the brakes fading on multiple ocassions just from using them pretty hard and late........

DC5 & FD2 are probably different. From owners reports the oem DC5 calipers sound pretty poor, and to fit them probably need 16" with a spacer and extended bolts?

TGM do a Brembo kit similar to DC5 but different I think for about £6-700 fitted, some HOT users are running them but with 17" and thats the trouble with most big kits - the extra expense of bigger alloys & tyres.

If your serious about brakes, as Steven says the Spoon kit is THE best value for money kit as they fit under oem and use oem size pads etc, cost is roughly 1k now eh - and a waste of money on a road car imo unless you have cash to burn. But if you track or do motorsport its a no brainer, they are a must, with a big kit you can outbrake everybody by seconds & its a MASSIVE advantage.

thanks stevenek9, if u get the chance plz measure up...appreciate it alot..

thanks for the input guys...let u guys know how i go n which setup i choose.

my initial idea was to get this cheap brembo setup, get a custom bracket for caliper and use either s2000, nsx or dc5 disc so i can retain 16inch rims, and extended studs n ??mm spacer(may or may not need depeneding on disc i think).....whatu guys think?
and mayb a pad upgrade if standard ones didnt hold up well.

The spoon calipers are going to be my next mod for sure! What disc's are you using steven? and how do you find them?
Also your spoon brakes may stop you better than the fd2r BUT how much more does this car weigh than an EK9!

Josh..

they are 114.3 x 5 but you need rim 18, 330 mm rotor
and 4 piston brembo caliper

if are from dc5R are smallers you can use rim 17

OEM EK9/DC2 type R pads and DC5R brembo pads have the same surface size, rotors are slightly bigger only. Braking performance per dollar go for SPOON.

After replacing the pads on my dads FD2 yesterday i would say not to bother!!! The calipers are HUGE, also they use a hard pipe that goes into the back of the caliper then joins to the flexi on the hub, means that plumbing in your brake lines would be a bit of a hassle

On the upside, my dad informs me the Project Mu B-spec pads are very very good compared to the oem brembo ones

He's away with business later in the week, i'll have to take the car for a spin and check them out :nerv:
