Hiya all
Iv been looking at this original 9 light weight on pistonheads. Reviewed by alot of the mags back in 97. Does anyone know anything about it on here? Previous owners etc? Its at the other end of the country from where i am. So just trying to find out as much as poss. Thanks alot.:))

Put up a link and youll get more help. Id be happy to right a list of things to check, but cant help you on the cars history sorry

I'm only in Reading J12 M4 with a facelift ek9 for sale. Also Matt o that is 10 mins away from me is selling his pre facelift. Maybe wort popping over to look at two at once.
Dunx

as dunx said im selling mine very soon welcome early veiwings tho mines stroked to 1800.....

I find the price to be a bit steep; back then the price for a new race base was less than a normal EK9 due to missing things like Recaro's etc. The owner states the body isn't that great, there aren't any really interesting parts on it. And still it costs as much as many other EK9's.

An ex Perrymoo 9, i remember it well. Still looks good and can't speak for other owners, but Pez would've fettled that mota for sure. Will be a nice car if tidied up a bit.

Far to expensive,

He try's to make it sound like it has an amazing history to try and justify the price

Get a std ek9 to to 0-60 in that time I will donate my car to charity.

Ye i was always really doubtful of that 0-60. Considering what else is being sold for the money, id shop around. Dont make an expensive mistake like i did, took 5 months to rectify haha

Fully stripped the n1 was tested and did it I believe?
The magazine that tested it is mentioned in the ad!

Like you say, it's highly suspicious.

What's the actual 0-60 on these 7.2? If so how on earth did they manage to take 1.5 sec off the time without adding power? What tyres what this car on drag slicks?

Im leaving it well alone. Seller will not except a deposit on his description of the car. Im not driving to durham for a look. I already own a ek9 fecelift. Thought this race base might be a nice addition. Thanks dunc. I have a friend who is also looking but wants to get rid of his van first as has limited space. Do you do part ex? May well speed up a deal. He was with me at japfest.

I'm sure that figure was stated when the ek9 was first released in Japan before that magazine article was written?

A dc2 is quicker than a ek9 0-60 but book figure on them is about 6.5...

The legend that I heard was that there had been F1 cars on the track before the test and the rubber left from their tyres allowed the EK9 to get the traction.

I've never been an active member on this forum but seeing as this topic is about my car I thought my input would possibly clear a few things up, unfortunately it appears to have taken quite a pasting from some members.

As I told Scott (Rubble) in my email when he asked to leave a deposit and then view the car on the 22nd June, I've been honest with the description of my car and would prefer anybody to view before committing to a purchase, I would do the same with any car I was selling, his reply to me was that he understood where I was coming from.

Anyway, perhaps my honesty has been the downfall here, I could have failed to mention the bodywork issues and just let prospective buyers find out upon arrival but that's not my style, one thing I notice that I missed out of the Pistonheads advert was the link to pictures I took and uploaded to photobucket, this includes close ups of what I've mentioned, have yourselves a look and then pass judgement on the car.

I notice a few have commented the price is too high with it being a race base model, you can reduce the asking price but not increase it and surely this is something to be negotiated at a viewing. As for trying to use the history to justify the price, totally incorrect I'm afraid, my aim was to give as much information as possible about the car and it's history, nothing more, nothing less. In my eyes a detailed advert with good pictures shows a lot, any advert I see that has a couple of badly taken pictures and a short sentence is ruled out right away.

The car has been in the country since 1997 and I'd say the condition is better than most cars of this age which have lived on UK roads, surely you can see it gets looked after.

Thanks.

i dont get why everyone is complaining about the price, if you cant afford something you shouldnt be trying to buy it, and if everyone listned to the moaners we might as well give our ek9's away, the price or ek9 has dropped enough as it is, :angry2:

I think personally think the advert is fine, good detail, and price should be open to negotiation as you've pointed out. Can't please everyone though huh?

If you are selling, you want the best possible price, but if you are buying, you want the best possible deal.
