wondering what does everyone think of the heat wrap on a manifold got my 4-1 integra manfolid fixed jdm one does it help in any way an wat is the best heat wrap to buy an were or should i jst buy it Ebay

If you have an open cone filter, its defiantly worth it as it keeps engine bay temperatures down! but if you have any other intake kit, it does look cool when the manifold is all polished up ! ! you should be able to get the heatwrap from any decent motorstore, ebay should have some too! just look for stores with good feedback! :nice:

the ebay heatwrap is usually really bad, falls apart instantly almost
without the super expensive stuff, thermotec aint bad, not exactly cheap though

its what i use, seems good

Dei also known

Its swings and roundabouts i think. On a stock manifold is a no no, as it isnt up to heat, and will warp/crack under high temps, the same goes for the cheaper mani's of ebay etc.

More expensive aftermarket mani's can handle the heat better, but only better as it will still fatigue the metal (mainly as it cools back down after high temps) and also rust it quicker if you get water soaked up into the tape. Manufactures dont warranty them for this reason, as the stuff does shorten the lifespan alot, in more than one way.

I guess if you have an aftermarket mani that has been made especially well, that isnt going to ever get wet, it might be good stuff, but for the long run, the lovely header that dented your wallet, and got you a bollocking from your missus, will only last half as long as its supposed to if you put that stuff on.

Im not sure but i thought heatwrap was mainly meant for keeping the gases flowing hot?As hotter gases means faster gases & faster gases means more power , more often! lol

id say try and get more cold air in from outside, rather than trapping hot in!

Deffinately worth it if you track the car

The purpose of the wrap is to increase the scavenging effect by keeping the exhaust gasses hotter so they exit the head quicker, but also for the obvious reason of trapping heat and prevent it from radiating about the engine bay

Wrap the manifold right up to the collector and you will reduce head radiating to the sump thus reducing oil temperatures also

Allowing more cold air in about to the manifold will not have any advantages whatsoever, besides if you are running a thick full width radiator you will be slowing down the air velocity a fair bit

I used dei heatwrap on my old starbus and it took the test of time no problems, good stuff. I also recomend applying it wet, it takes to the shape of the manifold or whatever alot better and you can almost stretch it a little making a snug fit. I then let it dry and sprayed it with there hi temp silicone spray, supposedly helps keeps the weather out of it and stop the heat wrap storing moisture, I used it because it kept the heat wrap a nice colour for ages, didnt go all ghey and dirty

Wrap is great if you get a good brand and take some time installing it properly. Heat soak is not good for; oil, fuel, brake fluid...mostly for track application as street cars never got to the levels that heat soak will have a negative effect.

so wat heat wrap should go for want the name of it

or should i even put heat wrap on my integra 4-1 manifold wat does every1 think

Are most decent manifolds not stainless steel anyway so why would they rust?

wel the manifold i got the heat covering on it looks like is wearing of the gold bronze stuff so thats why im thinking on putting on heat wrap

an guys how can u tel that a oem integra 98 4-1 manifold is the jdm one

wat length of heat wrap an thickness should i buy cause dont want to little lol

heat soak does more than hurt performance. When you expose that much more heat to the surrounding environment of the engine bay, you cause other things like your AC hoses and PS hoses to crack over time. This is why the Mugen header came with a heatwrap for the AC hose. Street or not, if you want your car's associated accessories to last longer, you will want to wrap the header.

You should wrap the header and also get the OEM heatshield.

Post a picture of it. Buy more than you need, in case it gets damaged during an off course excursion.

I ordered the 2" wide 50ft roll to do my manifold and it was JUST enough

You can tell quite easy if it is the JDM manifold, ALL other oem integra manifolds are 2 piece cast items, it is only the 98 spec JDM 4-1 manifold that is tubular

Thermotec cool-it wrap is what i used, would recomend it :nice:

I used dei and thought it was great. just to add if the mani is 2nd hand make sure you clean it to best of ability, and dirt and **** trapped in can damage the mani over time
