hey guys,
ive got a vogue silver ek9 and have got a few mods done like coilovers, exhaust and different things but was just wondering how far to really go with it?my thinking being that it is an ek9 and is a sought after car but maybe worth more in time to come if it was left in relatively standard condition?
i was thinking about things like taking the aircon unit out, putting a full length teg radiator on and like getting a deep dish omp steering wheel, bigger brakes, carbon bonnet/boot.(all just examples of larger mods)
just things that could be reversed but are more out there and more lasting modifications.for example, new alloys can just be taken off and standard items put back on but if i had the aircon out and larger rad put in,its not so easy to reverse the procedure....so do you think it would decrease the value of my ek9 if i went ahead with these more lasting mods?(bearing in mind all mods would be done with quality parts and kept looking good and would only enhance performance).
i have seen modified ek9's on here and think they look amazing and my arguement is that if the mods are done right then it shouldnt alter the value too much?
cheers in advance:nice:

Generally you won't get much extra for a modified car versus a standard one so if the modifications are reversible you can always sell modifications separately when you sell up.

As for how far to go, it depends on you personally!

IMO to build a decent EK you have to spend around 10-12k or so including buying the car.

depends, to make it look pretty it doesn't cost a whole lot

to make it seriously handle and for a serious increase in performance it is £££

You wont loose any money adding different parts like the carbon an that but you wont increase it in value! Best thing to do is do what you want and as said above you can pu it back to standard if you ever sell up and sell the bits you have separate!

You can spend ££'s I'd spend it on performance and handling but keep the standard parts and if you go to sell later on sell the aftermarket parts separate and take the 9 back o standard with the parts you have kept and then sell the 9 if that makes sense :)

Its not worth worrying about the value of your car.

Spend a lot of money on it if you can afford to. (Just don't ruin it) Could easily blow £4K on mods.

Any mods you make keep the standard parts and then you can swap them back if you sell. Doesnt take much to make good power, i made 191 bhp yesterday with filter, spoon ECU anda good exhaust :) but to make 200+bhp your looking at £1000's .

Not if your lucky enough to buy one with loads of goodies for a bargin price :)

yea im not so worried about how much i spend on it tbh...i seem to spend all my money on my car lols but thats wot its all about in my mind.
i suppose there is wisdom in wot you have all said about just keeping standard parts(which i have been doing)and then putting them back on when the time comes to seeling the car.
i realise that modifing a car doesnt make financial sense anyway but just thought i would ask you all...
basically i was thinking 'would i be put off buying an ek9 if it had the air con taken out?'but if i had the standard parts they could be put back in anyway.

i have a list saved on my computer for the day i win the lottery...nd yes if i did win the lottery i would still drive my Civic...
anyway that list easily comes to over £25,000

Doing as many people said and modifying then keeping the standard parts is a good way. If you spend money on some mods and enjoy it and it puts a smile on your face then its worth while in my opinion, even if ya lose a bit of money in the long run.

Your car still needs, baller wheels, mega suspension, mega brakes etc.

Having a sick civic isnt cheap.

I spent like 16k building my old Jordan and it still needed about 4k spent to make it seriously mega.

The biggest problem with selling a modified car is that you seriously reduce the potential buyers. I have been put off many cars simply due to the choice of wheels/exhaust/suspension, all easily reversible but still not something I can be bothered with.

Its all a matter of opinion mate, if you modify as everyone else says it will not add value to the car if anything it may decrease it as there are not many good standard EK9 about these days. Saying that, at the end of the day if you want to modify to suit you then you can who is to say you can put it back to standard if/when you go to sell the car :))
