KOOL JACCS INTEGRA

Well! No going back now. @RyanSi came round last night to walk me through the process of doing major service work on the new engine, so now it has new chains, guides, tensioners and oil pump. While it was cracked open ryan also did the rod bearings so this little 4banger should be all good for another 160k!

Once the engine casings and sump were acid washed and re fitted we used a di grinder and yanked the drivers side post mount to allow for the kswap mounts. Ryan also took my ep3 gearbox away to install a dc5 lsd and 5.1 final drive gear then we can start fitting some parts!

Did some bits in the garage at the weekend. Attacked the block with degreaser and a wire wheel to try and clean it up a bit. I wanted to see how the rbc looked so threw it on for a cheeky photo.

I also replaced the vtc strainer, upper rad pipe spout gasket and the water pump casing to block o ring in prep for putting the alternator and water pump on next time im free.

I also cut out a 50mm hole behind the subframe to run shifter cables. Ive ordered up a silicone bung that ill glue in place to try and stop any debris coming into the car

Update on the swap, not much to share. I gave the gearbox to @RyanSi to install a dc5 lsd and 5.1fd. He sent me pics of the internals after cracking it open. No issues to report.

Next up i had a free hour so chucked my new thermostat housing on and pipes then fitted a new oem water pump and front main seal before throwing on the alternator, crank pulley, tensioner and idler pulley. Down the line ill fit a power steering pump so im just using the old aux belt for now

Hoping to be able to drop the engine in soon and make some good progress coming into the new year.

Big push last night. Got some lads over and made sh*t happen. We managed to get the rear main seal, lightened fly and oem exedy clutch fitted and the gearbox onto the engine. Gave the chassis rails a clean down and painted the patch where the old mount was.

1000038121.jpg

After the mounts were fitted we jacked the car up and slid the engine under, pulled the wheel off and dropped the car down low enough to bolt the mount on the timing side then used another jack to lift the trans side up and bolt it on too.

I couldnt resist sitting the inlet on just to get the look. Excuse the lack of photos as i was flat out and forgot. Next job is going to be install cooling and fuel system along with shifter cables.

So after the engine went in i decided to get stuck in fitting the parts pile that seems to be taking over my life right now.
1000040400.jpg

First up was the shifter cables, managed to get used but good nick hybrid racing ones and new clips and split pins, shift feels nice but the white plastic looks aids, defos be looking into getting something a bit cooler looking down the line.
1000040401.jpg

Next up i tackled the rear heater hoses, used some zip tie engineering to get the heater control to function so i still have hot and cold air in the car .
1000040402.jpg

Once that was tackled i chucked on the rbc inlet, adapter, oem ep3 throttle body and the tegiwa alloy radiator with mishimoto slim fan.

As per usual i filmed this and posted it on my youtube channel. Feel free to watch, like, sub, bebo love ect.

Another night in the garage, another night of progress! This time i had @RyanSi giving me a hand. Got the radium engineering fuel setup with RDX injectors pretty much all buttoned up.
1000040395.jpg
1000040396.jpg

We then chucked on a hybrid racing kswap throttle cable and hooked up the oem expansion bottle to the radiator but mounted it on the passenger side. We then made up an intake with a blox racing 3.5 inch vstack. Looks okay but needs some adjustments. Ryan also tackled a large portion of the engine loom so shout out to him as id be completely lost without him on this build.
1000040397.jpg

we then hit a snag. The plm style manifold is making contact with the steering rack piping so i need to figure out a solution to it and get some lines tidied up to get the car closer to running next time im out in the garage.

Big night in the garage, @RyanSi got the loom, charge harness in place while i fitted the main vac line and a replacement fitting for the fuel line as the cheapo one was compromised.
1000040824.jpg

We then managed to sort out the clearance issue on the manifold and got it fitted with new studs and a brand new oem honda gasket. We used 2 big jubilee clips to pull the hard lines closer onto the rack and give enough space.
1000040825.jpg

I then fitted the centre shaft and altered the intake as the silicone hose wasnt sitting right. Once we checked over a few things and ran an old earth to the rocker we decided to try firing her up. So we fitted the oem injectors as the kpro file wouldnt suit the rdx setup but left them unplugged and cranked it to gain oil pressure. Plugged the injectors back in and within seconds she sprung to life for the first time in 4.5 months. What a feeling! My car is officially kswapped.

The to do list is getting smaller and it wont be long until @Vtec6000 works his magic.

New vlog up about the progress.

Since then i have made some small steps towards getting the car road ready. Firstly i fitted the battery and tray.
1000042294.jpg

Eventually down the line ill replace the battery as this ones a fair age now. I then swapped the inner cv joints on the shafts and got them fitted.
1000042292.jpg

Excuse the scabby vibes again im sticking to a budget so ill upgrade when i need to for some nicer ones down the line. That then allowed me to top up the gearbox with honda mtf and fit the vss supplied by JAPCOM.
1000042295.jpg

Next up i bled up the clutch, i was shocked to feel just how light it is compared to when it had the b18c.
Last job for tonight i raised the front of the car by about an inch as it was way too low even with the b18, the hardrace upper arms made contact the strut towers every time i hit a bump so once the car had a taller engine i didnt want to take any chances.
1000042296.jpg

I did some measuring and the sump is now 90mm from the floor!
The to do list is getting shorter by the day and i cant wait to drive it!
1000042293.jpg

Big push recently to get the car done! Finally got the 3 inch system i aquired on the cheap, came with a ktuned turn down. An absolute steal at £200, ryan did his thing and got it fabbed up to suit the kswap, the 2.5 manifold with a megaphone, flexi then a step up to 3 inches. Class sound but so loud! Will change up to a full custom system with large silencers when cash allows it.

1000043877.jpg

We managed to rip through the majority of the list too, earth cables tidy wiring as we went, ryan hard wired in the walbro fuel pump as advised from @Vtec6000. We then changed out the spark plugs for new iridiums and fitted an air temp sensor to the intake. After that i started putting interior back in the car, rear bench and centre console along with the lower dash under the steering collum. Because of the shifter i had to butcher the centre console a bit but it looks fine for now. In the future a snazzy shifter is on the shopping list but for now this will suffice.
1000043880.jpg

Next up was to fit an acuity tps and ammend the file on the kpro to suit the current spec.
1000043881.jpg

Last up @RyanSi checked valve clearances and we put on my new rocker cover. I went with orange to suit the tow hooks and sun strip. Makes it the focal point of the bay with everything else being black.
