I wanna buy some HID's for my project but don't want to get pulled over
more often for having an illegal set up.Does anybody know if there is any
company out there that sells legal HID kits? or I know the Acura TSX comes with factory HID's is there maybe a way I can convert my headlight set up with those of the TSX?:nerv:

where are you located that HID's are illegal?

you should be able to get away with 6 or 4k ones m8 anything higher and they will do you for it m8

I live in Washington state currently so the HID's aren't big targets for getting me pulled over yet, but I plan on relocating to california were I heard the laws are alot more strict so I kinda just wanted to be more prepared

pretty sure there illegal but most cops dont really care

Being honest I find it hard for them to be illegal when most new cars come with them as standard. I know they come in different power strengths but I'd say only the real high powered ones would be a problem.

there illegal on cars that they shouldn't be fitted too. the same here. if u have hid's in ur ek ur probably gonna fail ur nct with them

As said, they are illegal if the headlight they are fitted in are not manufactured for HID's as the projector is completely different. Some cars/manufacturers can provide replacement headlights for HID compatibility but cost a bomb!

But i still do not know of anyone being pulled over for them :blinx: But something like this can void your insurance....even if its as pathetic as replacement lamps :nono: They will find any excuse not to pay so keep that in mind :nerv:

Your best best is to retrofit even the Tsx projectors to the civic headlights , you are then bound to have the crisp beam pattern. Search Hondatech or google for HID projector retrofit

I completely disagree. I flew through the nct twice with them. Not once was a thing said to me. I had a copper ask me where to get them too.

Yeah alot of people are lucky that if the HID kit usually the bi-beam , the bulb reflector suits the civics projector giving a good enough beam for the tester to see.

So what im getting form this is I should find a place that could retrofit some TSX HID's to my civic. I dont think we do the nct test here in washington but like I said i was just
trying to prepare for the future.

...or do it yourself. But do not just slap hid's into your oem/non-hid reflectors/housing.

I thought they did since the ITR came with HID's my bad:)

ITR's did in Japan as far as I know, not the CTRs. Which is why you need to retrofit something like TSX housing into your civic housing. Just using oem civic housing and HID lights will blind oncoming traffic. Do it correctly with a retrofit by either doing it yourself or have someone do it for you like in the link I posted for your in this thread.

I was going this route, changed my mind and keeping it oem.

Officially - from the Dept of Transport :

"No official legislation governing the retrofit of HIDs. Arra, shure, so long as they're E-Marked and yer beam patterns are good - then you're grand"

Love the attitude lol!

So long as the beams are correct for the nct there's no law in ireland governing them

well when i had my hid's in my car anytime i got pulled over i was asked whats the story with ur lights? also any lights that have a hint of blue in ur lights are illegal as ur headlights car only be yellow or white.

retro fit fitting hids is completely different to lobbing a set into ur civic

did u do ur nct recently because i had to change both of my headlight bulds because they weren't giving proper light distribution. the bulds were only 4 months old max.

to the op there is a how to guide to retro fitting hids into an ek on clubcivic
