- 1998 B16b swapped lx
Hello fellas, new member here. I know this has been talked about in the past but I am looking for a little insight on this topic. I'll start with some background info.
I have a 1998 civic lx with a b16b engine and transmission. The car is currently not on the road so I'might in no rush. The engine now has over 220k on it and it is clearly time for a rebuild. It burns a decent amount of oil and smokes like a banshee while in vtec.
I'm set on going with a turbo, I was planning on rebuilding the engine with lower compression pistons so it would be safe to run boost, I know this engine is meant to be N/A but I really don't care. So my question is do you guys think it would be more cost efficient to
A) rebuild the b16b with lower comp. Pistons and then turbo it.
B) Scrap the whole idea and do a d16 Vitara build.
I've also read that the type r cams have too much overlap for a turbo, but I see boosted b18cr all over the Internet making good power, so I'm a little confused on that.
Cheers.
