After years of being involved with escorts in various forms of motorsport and a big crash on a quad at Weston Beach Race, Mike and Kris from R-Motion finally converted me to Jap Crap! That was my opinion anyway until I had a spin in an old intergra and i was sold.
So now Ive bought an mint EK9 off Mike for a very reasonable price (cheers Mike!). Ive been a bit slow to get this thread started but heres what's been done so far. Kris stripped the interior out like a man posessed! Ive stripped the loom, ABS, heaters out. Now I am slowly building a roll cage for it. Full weld in of course as I buid my own bespoke roll cages for any vehicle. The only problem is finding the time! I'll get some pics up now Ive worked out what to do. The plan is to run a standard B16b and have as much fun as possible!
You can probably tell this thread is copy and pasted but I'll try to edit it and kept it interesting!
Ive bought some more tube for the rollcage including some nice light T45. Its amazing how much lighter it is but almost twice the price of CDS! Im making the main basic cage with CDS and then all the additional tubes will be T45. Here's some pics to prove it as some will probably not belive Ive even got a car!
I couldn't make up my mind on which door bar design to use so I went for one in the middle of the two most popular types.
Now its time to decide which other tubes I fancy????????????????
After a big push on over two weeks working some silly hours I got somewhere and i feel it was worth it. Progress at last!!
I nearly forgot this vital part of the build. It won't have looked the same without a steering wheel!
A mixture of CDS and T45 tube.
That troll keeps getting in my unit!!!!!!
I just can't wait to get building her up!!!! Yum yum!!!!!!
What does one do when they recieve a tax rebate????
Spend it on motorsport!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Engine bay freshen up.
So its time to bolt the shiny bits on and get the noisy bit in!
Yum yum!!!
I've managed to do some more little jobs. But I seem to have run out of spare time again. Does anyone know if time can be purchased, I could do with a few 8 day weeks!!!
The bush fitting was a pleasure. A bucket of hot water some lube and a hydraulic press. Does that sound wrong?
Nice to have the screen back in.
Plenty more to do, and plenty more time to panic!
