Matt's K20 CW EK9

B18 block is now being stripped and the crank & rods are to be inspected.

It they're good they will be used to stroke my B16B along with high comp pistons around 12:1 so I can use my Skunk2 cams!

Still the same outcome really, just a different way to it :)

Yeah had to happen really!! Much too far into it parts wise to change my mind now & it's what I've always wanted to do.

Not chasing mega power figures, just a bit more poke & a lot less oil burn from a good old B series :D

Good man! Hopefully all is well with your b18 parts.

Aye I hope so too! Otherwise probably just be forged B16B with Skunk2 cams... Really want to use the knife edged crank though.

Big news!

Turned out that the majority of the B18 parts are shagged including the crank! So I'm going to use the crank & flywheel to make a lamp stand :D

Then it was back to square one!

So after much debate, deliberation, calculation and pondering I have decided to K-SWAP!!!!!

I just don't see the point in building up my B16B for a measly 210bhp when I can get way more and much more potential with a K20 for the same money. B16B will come out and be stored, possibly to go back someday. At least I will still have a completely unmolested B16B engine.

So now I'm looking about to source a K20, gearbox & running gear. Going about getting my K-swap parts together. Torn between the K-Tuned "Turn Key" package & Hybrid Racing's products. Will be running on KPro of course! Cannot wait, will be an animal! :run:

Definitely the right way to go with it. Far more potential once the initial ground work is out of the way!

So that crank you got? The knife edged one.
That's goosed?

Yea I completely agree! Can't wait :D

Sadly yes! One of the knives is dented which has caused a crack & also the thrust face is very worn so it's basically scrap. As i say, going to make a lamp stand & K-swap now ;) lol

Basically, it's got to the point now where it's forced my hand and made my decision for me. Not going to invest building up a B series now, I had the parts already before so cost was minimal, now it will be mega & for 210bhp from a B16 I'd rather spend the money & K-swap.

Many B series parts will be up for sale soon! Some brand new.

Where did you get the crank checked?
If mine fails again I think I'll take it too them and see if they can find anything...

Was at the machine shop that TDi North uses, it's nearby to their place I think.

K-swap in this will be mega! Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

It sure will :D I'm so bloody excited! Hahah. It's proving stressful finding bits for it though

Just bought my first part - a DC2 front subframe, steering rack & control arms which I'm told is important for the engines location in the bay & axle angles etc. EK subframe isn't too good for K-swap.

I've got a kswap intake sitting in the garage.
good condition, can get photos for you.

Nice! B-series is so last year anyway... :run::run:

You can't beat a k20's combined reliability and power. This should be schweet!!

Agreed haha, don't know why I didnt realise it earlier.

First parts purchased! The ball is rolling.

Just picked her up from the bodyshop! Was very much in need of a front bumper respray. Finally got it done, goodbye stone chips, hello shiny bumper! :D:D
