Matt's K20 CW EK9

Spent the afternoon yesterday prepping my DC2 subframe for paint. Stripped the steering rack, wish bones, ARB & tie bar off it. Then started scrubbing with degreaser & a wire brush! All with a beer of course ;)

Ready for paint, got the worst off. Couldn't get anymore off without sand blasting it probably. Hammerite can go over it though :)

Got to clean up the wishbones, ARB and tie bar for paint next.

Today I decided to treat the wishbones & shock forks to a bit of TLC as they were looking a bit sorry for themselves.

Same drill really, will give them another coat tomorrow possibly. ARB and tie bar to paint...

Before & after...

Been some sizeable progress & almost at the point of being ready to do the swap.

Been a right busy bee! I've now bought everything I need to do the swap, all swap parts & whatever else. Literally nothing left to get, even a 6 speed Skunk2 gear knob.

I set about working on the engine & stripping down the outside ready to paint it. I have another gearbox with MFactory LSD & carbon synchros in which I'm swapping onto this when I fit my new clutch & light flywheel. So I didn't bother with this gearbox or the sump as I have a black K-Tuned steel one.

Haha is it the same one as mine in the photo above? :D yeah might do, should do it if you can for sure :) although, if it's a healthy B16B then maybe keep it in. My B16B is a smokey old girl now, burning oil like mad, so that's my excuse. If it was 100% healthy I wouldn't be swapping :)

Yeah that's the one :nice:
Yeah everything seems to be good with the B16B at the minute so will be a hard decision.
Just would be nice to have that extra power.

Gone from an awesome build to a mega awesome build. Love the progress. Couldn't bring myself to dump a k in a 9 though. Will be an animal none the less.

Well if I was you I'd be keeping that B16B for sure. Extra power is always nice but so is originality. Like I said, if mine wasn't burning oil so bad I would be keeping it in. It does pain me a little to be doing this swap but needs must and the power will be another level.

Haha thanks :D I have struggled to bring myself to do it. Hence why I spent so long trying to stay with a B series. But K is the more obvious choice really, engine stays stock, top reliability, more power, more modern and a 6 speed box.

Few better shots of the cover, also with the carbon plug cover. Should get some in direct sunlight really.
