mods on insurance

Still doesn't matter, you've gotta specify that you're the main driver for it to be legal

This thread back fired on the OP..

I think the lesson to learn is that for the first 3 - 5 years of driving, unless you have alot of money, you simply have to insure basic cars under your own name until you are of an age where insurance comes down.

There is no way around it sadly, just have to suck up those years and then have your fun.. Obviously alot of younger chaps can afford it but unfortunately the world isn't fairs the majority of us have to do what i mentioned above..

I've had 106's, saxo vtr, escorts, fiesta's, golfs.... All cheap cars with cheap insurance. We've all been there but soon enough before you know it nice cars are affordable..

I remember the wait from 15 - 17 before i could drive and it felt like ages for that time to pass.. Now im 24 and time seema to have flown.

Sorry for the life story lol just wanted you to know. Its normal to not be able to afford toninsure nice cars while you are young.

All the best

This.

Learn to walk before you can run. Start off with a cheap car/insurance and work your way up. If you really can afford it then that's your decision to do so if cannot and have to work out methods to get "round" the insurance then don't. You cannot work easy ways round insurance to make it cheaper without it being illegal.

what i should have said instead of my essay lol ;)

Biggest saving to be made in insurance is paying lump sum up front. Would take a premium of £2000 down to £1500ish.

But as said above, wait it out. Don't do all the fun stuff before your 20 :D

Agreed. Its not fun worrying about how you're going to be able to insure/run your car just because you're young. It gets tiresome.

I still say my biggest mistake was buying the car that i did as a first car.
