So,after being on here a short time, its become clear you lot highly rate these mugen/replica airboxes..

so are they really that good? and what sort of gains have people had from them?

only wondering as i cant seem to find the info on here, only people saying that there good lol..and i have a mugen replica, but was considering changing it..but seems a good idea to keep it??

Cheers

i did..and i didnt find anything other than people saying 'there good' etc..nothing about gains etc people have had

Its a very good piece of kit mate. Can be pricey, but worth the buck. The engine note in VTEC is immense. No intake is going to give you MASSIVE power gains, the Mugen Intake will probably be a 5 HP increase.

thanks kaks, i was lucky that i picked up my replica for pretty much nothing..and if there as good as people say they are compared to CAI etc i shall be keeping it..although unfortunately i have left b18c tec for a 1.4 :( will have b powerz again soon!

The ELR airbox also seems to give excellent results on B series engines but is one of the rarest intake ... Personally i've seen one to sell in 3 years ...

A guy on a French Topic Board is working on a copy for a while.
We are waiting for a finished product and a dyno.

dont rate them, pay out your arse for a box that swallows all the noise that vetc makes....it may give u good cold air and say mugen on the top...but mugen can suck my balls. a puddle sucker sounds better and gets you just as much cold air

i dont have vtec atm so no worries there lol..turns out mines not just a cheapo mugen rep..its a power house amuse one..go me! lol

God dont you sound inteligent! :angry2:

The mugen airbox is good in many ways.
-Keeps the piping distance from fiter to throttle body to minimum.
-Incorperates a Velocity stack at the the filter pipe entrance to speed up air flow.
-Has a nice big cone shaped filter, plenty big enough to intake enough volume of air. Where most CAI's are just long pipes into the wing with little cone on the end.
-Encases the fiter in an insulated sealed carbon air box. Genuin mugen ones are double skined around the filter.
-Has the piping into the bumper for the coldest still air.

Who gives a rats a*# how much quieter it is over an open cone. It is superior in every way!!

I wouldn't worry about how much more HP points you can claim with it as every different setup gets different results. Just be glad to know you have the optimum intake setup to your manifold that you can get. And it will out perform any other accross the range and thats what counts. :nice:

thanks, thats the exact info i was after.

i guess i done well getting this for free!

the minute i saw it on my mates car i was interested,as id not seen one before,so i wanted it purely for the reason of it being something different..so he gave me it,and its only now iv done research, and since being on here that i even realised they were decent, and worth a good amount lol
