My EK coupe build up

Thanks bud! I do love the wheels, fancy a change as I've had them on the car for 6 years or so, but don't know what to replace them with as they suit the car really well!

@Steve M , ok see the spring bars , get a bungee cord and wrap it around the left side of the spring bar where you see the little bend in it , wrap the bungee cord around it as tight as you can get it with the boot closed ! Left side from the back , right side from inside car ,
I have taken my one off because of the spoiler,

Wrap the two bars together were you see the bend ,

If the boot is hard to open , loosing the elastic bungee cord till just right .;)

Well it's been a long time since this was last updated!!! Real life has taken over for the last couple of years, but the car is still with me!
I've actually still done a fair amount of stuff with the car so I'll try and run though it all!

Emm moving on from the last post...
I felt the car needed a carbon bonnet to match the boot lid, as you do, so bought one and a set of aero catches

Then went to JAE with the car, got some shots taken by my mate Rippu

Not long after that I bought a house, so car stuff went on hold for a while, just as we got the house in order. I then proposed to the Mrs over last summer too!
So to reward myself for doing adulting well... I bought myself these

Had wanted a set of SE37's for years and finally found a set on Yahoo auctions in Japan. Got tyres for them and couldn't be happier with them!

Then went back to JAE

The benefit of having a proper house with a garden was I could build a **** off garage/car hole in it So that was done at the end of last year, keeps the car out of the elements!

Also rolling on in the background had been another big job.. the paint around the sunroof bung had been cracked for years, so some peer pressure had made me decide that a carbon roof was the way to repair it. So I got a mould made up and a carbon panel made. This was then fitted around February this year, absolutely love it!

Got it fitted just in time as I then used the car as my wedding car!

Then did a few repair jobs, calipers etc to get it mechanically ok again, then bought a new Spoon style carbon splitter for it before JAE

And that just about brings us up to date!
I've noticed the car using more and more oil recently, and becoming smokier when driving, so I've decided a rebuilt is now worthwhile, so I'll use the opportunity to go high compression!
First piece of the puzzle arrived this week, Rocket Motorsports M24XX cams and Golden Eagle cam gears
IMG_3995.JPG

Have a plan in my head of what setup I want to run, so will collect parts over the next few months and aim to get the engine done over winter/early next year

I'll try and update this more haha

Nice to see you still have this man, remember seeing it years ago on here with the white CRX. Looks really clean, the Spoon style lip sets it off nicely and im a massive fan of the carbon roof! Anywhere we can get our hands on one? Look forward to seeing more updates.

Thanks guys! Yeah that would have been my pal John's crx. I love the carbon fibre parts! I genuinely do have another couple of carbon roofs that were made, they do have imperfections though, I do also still have the metal roof! @AzAc54
Thanks Pete, I love my garage!

Omg ! That roof is bad ass the whole car is a credit to your hard work , the coupes are so over looked but imo one great handling car when set up right ,
So glad you have kept it and are moving to the next chapter with it , unbelievable the amount of work and money that goes into a hobby,
Steve what does the coupe weight without the cage ?
It would have to be close to or just under 1000kg?
I still have my own coupe lol ,
Drive her every day ,and nowadays I don't see any of them on the road's , they really started to die out about 2 to 3 years ago , now in dublin I'd be lucky to see one every few months if even that .
Looking forward to seeing more of your updates.
And congratulations on your wedding and hope you have meny a happy years in your new home .
All the best lee .

Thanks Lee! Yeah I wouldn't want to think about how many hours and how much money I've put into it now haha.
Aye I'd think it would be about a tonne, should really get it on a weighbridge and find out!
Glad to hear you've still got yours mate, good you still daily it too, mine never moves! They are becoming a rarer sight on the road now for sure!
Thanks man, hopefully that'll be the case!

Rippu, it's just some bam I can't get rid of haha, thanks though!

More parts have arrived for the engine build:)) Just trying to budget every month to keep a steady stream of parts coming in.

Bought an Edelbrock performer X intake manifold, along with a set of K20 injectors with Ktuned top hats to allow them to fit a B series fuel rail. As far as I know they should drop into the manifold as they are just now, so going to chuck a fresh set of seals on them to be safe. Trying to decide whether its worth going for an aftermarket rail or just to stick with the OEM setup I already have

Took the car out for a blast a couple of days ago, just enjoying it when I can before winter sets in. Took a few pics of it, I'll post the rest in the media section to save clogging this thread up!

More parts arrived the other week! Bought an AEM fuel pressure regulator as it was brand new and going cheap, will get a fuel rail too in the near future. Undecided if I’ll bother running a pressure gauge or not, don’t know if it’s worthwhile or not.
Also got a spare rocker cover and cheapo catch can as I’ll be running a breather/catch can setup, need to get fittings and lines to complete that.
And finally managed to score a set of brand new pistons for a good chunk less than retail, Weisco 12.5:1 81.5mm pistons, they look amazing!
Skint again now so need to wait till payday to buy more bits haha

Been continuing on with parts collecting + progress on the engine build. Now got 90% of the parts I need!
Ended up buying a whole load of Supertech stuff from the US. Bought a complete valvetrain package basically, includes Titanium valves, springs, retainers + keepers, LMA's, valve guides + stem seals!

Also bought an AEM fuel rail to go along with the regulator I bought a couple of months ago

And got hold of a Hondata S300 too.

Had a couple of weeks off over Christmas so pulled the engine out with @R1PPU on xmas eve, only issue we had was trying to free the bottom balljoints from the lower arms!

Then got the engine stripped down on new years eve, again went well except for the belt tensioner bolt snapping as soon as I tried to loosen it! so that'll need drilled out now

Waiting to hear back from my mate to see when he'll be able to get the bottom end built, hoping it'll be in the next couple of weeks. So currently prepping the engine bay for paint.

While I was stripping it down I noticed that one of the supports for the timing belt side engine mount had sheared completely off! Strangely enough there was no movement in it at all until I loosened the bolts for it.. does explain the intermittent knock I got from the passenger front though!

Aiming to get the engine bay primered/possibly painted this weekend so will update again soon

Love the carbon fiber roof :)

Great build, thanks for sharing. :)
