onto engine number 3..........

great work man serious work gone in say you wont be able to sleep tonight roll on the mapping

great work steven i have followed your build since day one and it is great to see you come to this point so fast it seems as though you have built tons of knowledge through all the engines and now the k series. I have a k swapped eg and wouldn't have any other engine I hope you enjoy your new engine and it lives up to your expectations bro! Cant wait for mapping and nurburging :nice:

cheers guys :)

so......... tuning

took the trip down to see Henry yesterday ( TripleH Performance, triplehperformance, ) , i know how much hype there is about TDi and they no doubt are good at what they do, but i've always used Henry as he really does know his stuff and as always i was over the moon with his work

the only down side was the heat yesterday!! ambient temps were almost 36 degrees in his workshop, compared to the 18 degrees my B18 was tuned on it does make a fair difference to the power graphs. first couple runs it was pulling almost 210whp on the base map but then after 2 hours of tuning it was getting pretty toasty in there!

tuning was done to circa 13:1 afr up to 6k and then richens up a bit to keep things cool

anyways here is the most important chart, before and after, hi comp B18C6 vs standard k20a2

the k20 has far more useable power, as much as 25whp up between 5.5k and 6.5k! it is only from 7.5k up that the B18 takes over with its higher peak output

on the road the difference is night and day, k20 is an animal haha, so much grunt and as a testament to the mapping is so so smooth to drive

couple videos on the dyno

Congrats Steven  it wasn't the best day for mapping 36 degrees is crazy lol would be good to see it on the rollers when it's cooler! Now bring on the ring :drive: lol

Wow!! The time you did this in was amazing, car sounds sweet as a nut

Great work

I imagine the fact that the dyno does log temp it would have temperature compensation so you may find that it wouldn't make a huge amount more on a cooler day. Torque is a little on the low side. Where's your vtec point set?

Really impressive build, you certainly dont hang about.

Ive always wondered if the balance of the car or handling would be affected by the engine position?

it does have correction and he did say there wouldn't be a huge amount more, 5-10whp at most

vtec is about 5.5k

engine wise the mods are

70mm RRC manifold
70mm hybrid racing throttle body
karcepts intake
skunk 2 mega power manifold
200 cell sports cat
true 2.5" system with single rear silencer

took a video of it through the gears, pulls well enough on the road

need to redo the front coilover setup, corner weights are well off now

should be handling good after some tweaks
