Hi all,

Have been looking into getting a cage put in the 9 but have been trying to decide whats best.

Ive got a friend who fabricates and fits cages but hes swamped with uni work at the minute so just hasnt got the time.

So Been speaking to a couple of people and custom cages seems to be a popular weld in type but custom cages want mega money to fabricate and fit it.

Demon tweeks sell the cage for alot cheaper but im trying to see if anyone knows of a welder who would be capable of fitting the cage?

Or if anyone else has any other advice on other cages including bolt in types

Thanks in advance

Ben

it can sometimes be cheaper to have a full cage custom welded in than buying a bolt in cage give dixon motor sport a call for a rough price i got quoted 800 for a multi point.

i got a 8 point cusco bolt in with dash and sun roof bung for ek hatch, £800 for the both. pm me if interested :D

Stage 1 motorsport did mine as my back was knackered at the time, charged £650 to fit my custom cages cage, and seam weld the whole shell, took 3 days and said just the cage would be £400, and is a work of art, did a stunning job.

Custom, if done right, could be safer over a bolt in.
Head clearance with the cage is very important...the further away, the better!
Bolt in cages encroach into this needed space.

Custom 8point cage is worth it.

How much are you looking to spend and what will the car be used for?
If it's just for street and trackdays tbh if I personally go just a rear 4pt cage with a harness bar welded in rather than a dash dodger 6pt.
But if you think you might go racing in the future or then definitely save up until you can afford a weld-in.

Important to remember with cages that if it is an MSA approved design and size such as the Custom Cages one, the car will be eligible to rally etc. and get a motorsport log-book which will mean when you come to sell the car it'll be worth a lot more.

I got a bolt in Wiechers in mine. Fits really well and for the price I could not build a custom one. I payed around 350 euro's for mine (4 point with X-bar)

I don't have any detailled pics of the cage. I ordered it from KSC import in the Netherlands Ksc import importeur: Eibach, Bilstein, Breyton, Tomason, Asa, Brock, Schmidt, Wiechers, Rieger, Brock, Oxigin en veel meer.

unless you are actually going to race your car competitively in any form of motorsport a weld in cage is IMO a total waste of money.

if your just buying it for the normal guy reason of it looks ****ing badass and might help your car handle better, buy a bolt in so that you can sell it when you are done(for roughly the same money you will pay). not have a car with an irremovable scaffypipe system in it when you are trying to sell it.

Cages seem a lot so I have just bought a mandrel tube bender and am making my own the cheapest option in the end
