S4C LSD Box.. Value?

Anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay imo. If you needed a known to be working well lsd box in a hurry and 500 was the price for that piece of mind, personally I'd probably pay that over a 3/400 box I didn't know so well.

Seems a little steep but with the price of an ek9 increasing slightly in the last couple years it wouldn't seem unreasonable to see the standard parts increase in value also.... Anyone wanna buy my b16b lol?

Hmm, I've been offered a fidanza flywheel, 4.4 FD parts and LSD for £450. Doesn't sound bad then? As I know my box is good, may be safer to convert mine

I would say so mate sometimes better the devil you know. Also if your doing it yourself you will know that it's been done to the highest standard possible.

I have an S80 4.7 fd in the garage at parents. It was remived due to 3rd gear crunch, give me a pm if your interested,

@Yazza54 If you can pick this up for handy money get it , sort the 3 gear and swap in 4th and 5th from your box ,
You will be much more happier with that set up for sure .

I payed 350 Iirc for my 4.7 s80.

Another Q rather than starting a new thread - are all B series clutches interchangeable? For example will the b16a2 clutch I have with S4c box work the new b18c with an S80 etc.. can't see why not?

All clutches for hydro boxes are the same, only the cable operated clutch is different... I think.

There is a difference in the mounting points for b series flywheels(the dowels that centre the pressure plate)
A buddy had this issue with a TTV flywheel that had to be sent back as it didn't match his clutch.

Yeah they should be, I have a B16B clutch on my B16A2. Shouldn't make a difference. Rob's right that the only difference is between cable and hydro.

Jesse's mate is the first I've heard of it not matching, may have been a manufacturing error?

So bar the ratios and diff types all the boxes are the same right?!

You hear alsorts of crap!

First gear has a twin synchro....no other gear does in any box. The type r "twin sychros" are fiction as far as I know.

He's a member on here, Gavin with the b18c metro?
He got hold of TTV and they said they've had it before and just him out the correct one. Was a tiny bit out like 1mm.
It's probably the combo of the clutch he's using and the flywheel, hense it being quite rare to hear of. Like you I'd never heard of it before either.

I've been inside plenty of R boxes but tbh I've no idea what "twin syncros" look like lol just looked like a normal gearbox to me tbh

Its 2nd with the twin apparently. There is a pair of synchro rings rather than one.

There is no "best" gearbox, only different gearboxes and different needs.

I hear what your saying mate , but the question was are they the same !
And clearly they differ from b16b s4c lsd to say standard s4c from sir , different yes but not a hell of a lot to ask crazy money for , so we take your opinion over what honda says is in their box ? Why would honda list that in the spec if wrong and pissing away all credibility in the process ? So I think you comment was a bit harsh, in saying you hear all kinds of crap !
Don't take this personally bud , but the boxes are different which is fact .

Lee my exasperation wasnt at you, rather the internet as a source of misinformation. I hadnt read the first page. Things get crystalised into fact when they are simply not true. On my old skyline club people were getting pushed into 300quid splitfire coils when all they needed was to gap their sparkplugs etc.

On boxes: Some have an lsd, and there are different ratios; but that seems to be where the differences end.

Three key points:-
* The 4.7fd is actually 4.8
* The dual synchros upwards of 2nd exist only as aftermarket offerings (this is fact!)
* Non-lsd versions of the b16 hydro gearbox are not 4.4fd, but rather 4.3fd.

Sound John your right about what your saying mate,
Things get messy when quoting from Internet without
First hand experience, and I hold my hands up as first hand experience is limited with me lol .
All the best dude .

Got the box off colepsycho

When I harvest my S4C for bits am I best off swapping in the 4th and 5th or just 4th??

Slightly concerned that it'll be buzzing it's tits off on the motorway

I'd do both or none of it was me, shorter 4th with the longer 5th might be abit of a jump on track.
You'll be abit over 4000rpm for 70mph Iirc
