S4C LSD Box.. Value?

Is that 4000rpm with s4c 5th gear and 4.7 FD?

Could probably live with that. I guess it's all relative. My old rover K series car cruised around 3500 but only a 7k redline so if you take the redline of the B18c into account it's not that bad.

I'd do both or none of it was me, shorter 4th with the longer 5th might be abit of a jump on track.
You'll be abit over 4000rpm for 70mph Iirc

4th and 5th

4th only

The car is very light so I think keeping the s80 5th gear wouldn't bother it. I'm not building it as a track car either. Fast road/capable tourer. So close first 4 gears and a slightly longer s80 5th might make a nice combination.

Yeah the difference isn't as large as I was expecting tbh.
Also you'll be revving alittle more than 8000.
8600 is stock limiter Iirc

Cool, I think once I've got my two boxes split I'll know what to get, and I'll post some bearing codes up. Would be nice to have the seals to hand though, I emailed japservice parts and asked if they would just sell me a seal kit but no response..

Yeah iv done the same but they won't or don't sell separately, feels a bit like a cartel between them all lol .

I'm surprised that after all this time and all the people who tune these motors there isn't a definitive list of bearing and seal codes on the net

I know mate iv searched, and if you put the sizes into this
http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/Bearings-Deep-Groove-Ball-Bearings/c3_11/index.html the only one that will list is input shaft bearing, all other sizes come up but not what I'm looking for , it very strange, seems specialist bearing companys have the Monopoly on them ?

Maybe mate, if they aren't run of the mill bearings it might not be worthwhile for them to stock them. I had the same building my bike, could get exactly the same bearing but it wouldn't have a groove in for a retaining clip, one was like 10 quid and the other 25 :(

Now that company I listed says they can grind bearings to spec ? But I think it won't be worth it in the end and then relaying all the info and the stress will be a killer till you fit , and then you may have got something wrong or they ,
Ah seems you be doing your box before me lol, I'll pass the stress onto you for timing been :busy:
Come summer one way or the other we will have a fresh box .

Right this is what was in my inbox
Hi Lee,
Looks like you have some unusual sizes there.
28mm bore size is between usual sizes 25mm or 30mm also
Needle bearing appears to be too heavy, 33 x 60 means the race way is 13.5mm too wide for Needle Brg. perhaps Cyl. roller ??. Does it have an Inner Ring ?

Nearest sizes available
25x62x17
30x62x16

30x72x19 AC Brg
35x72x17 AC Brg

30x62x20 Needle Brg with Inner Ring
35x62x20 Needle Brg without Inner.

I’m afraid GBox bearings are usually specials , any markings on old ones ?

Kind Regards,
Brian

So I emailed him back telling him you will have the bearings in hand soon with whatever markings on them .
So hopefully we can get them at better price here .

Hmm if they're all specials that's probably why the kit was expensive! I only really intend to change ones that need changing hence not wanting to buy the whole kit but would defo change all seals

I'm hoping to get away with just input shaft bearing/seal, and bearing on top of the shaft, two drive shaft seals.
New clutch release bearing, and high temp grease.
What's killing me is iv only done clutch kit 3-4 thousands k ago :angry2:

Haha not me , but mybe the wife ! Hate that crap ,
But the missus loves it lol ,so you've seen her ?haha
