Hey guys,

After being out in my brothers scooby last week im thinking of getting a turbo for my civic but im unsure if this is a good idea or not,
I've been reading though the forced induction section of the forum but I still cant decide.

I would have a budget of £2000-£2500 and would like to make about 250-300 bhp from my b18c6, is this possible with this budget?.

and what turbo would be best suited to the b18c6?

The car will be my daily so wont run a lot of boost.

cheers guys
duffy

thats easily achive with stock motor and a p.o.s ebay kit (not saying buy ebay) but you can indeed meet your goal with that budget

someone on the forum has a Turbotecnics kit forsale for cheap, so if your thinking about doing it grab it while u got the chance! :nice:

This kit : GO-AUTOWORKS Turbo Kits You'll also be able to buy everthing else you need like injectors, fuel pump,ect....

If the engines in good condition then just leave it stock.

BTW any of the turbo's that come with the kit will work fine.

Ive a garret t3/t4 .60 trim on mine, makes boost at 4k and pulls like a slut all the way to 9k on my b16b. Made 289bhp yesterday on rollers but requires a 300lph fuel pump coz the stock one hasnt enough poke. Id say with a decent tune you can easily achieve your goal

i'd say you dont stand a chance with that budget. im going for those figure you mentioned( wont be saying the cost of my build here). its not the turbo kit thats the problem, its everything else. bet you not thought about clutch for instance etc etc.?? and with stock internals you might reach 300 for a while. seriously look into it. i thought i had.

I reckon if its at the fly, then 250 is a realistic goal, atw maybe a different matter. Things like intercoolervand manifold you can get decent second hand, evan the turbo/ wastegate if you shop about. Ive a HKS T04E i got from a breaker on japan sat at home and i got for a mere 260 quid and its in great condition. As far as fueling goes, only buy new because if an injector dies or ya pump does, your motor will lunch itself in next to no time

Honda make N/A cars for a reason, getting the fuelling correct on a vtec motor is a bitch. I had a turbo'd d16 and stock internals, ended up cracking a pistons and melting rings. I've since spent a fortune rebuilding the motor, never again.

I try not to use christs name in vain too much but Jesus Christ, so much **** talking going on in here. Greedy, Hks, Toda etc just because its '' Jdm'' don't make it good, its overpriced ****, like a pair of over priced trainers if you like only not as good as a pair of Nike's.

Total rubbish, the tune was no good, hence why you ran lean and melted down.

I have to agree. It may be reliable for a while but it won't last. Most people underestimate turbo builds. Its basically a N/A engine build cost and then the turbo cost on top of that. Just strapping a turbo on is not the smartest most reliable way to make power.

Also worth noting that the several thousand pounds it would cost to fully build an engine, you could blow up and replace many many b16a2's for the same cost.

After being out recently in a turbo ep3 id say yes, it was mega. I would budget abit more though maybe 3-3.5k

Correct, my set-up was rubbish. It was a greddy bolt on kit and greddy e-mange, that robbed me of £2000 alone

Sorry but thats the biggest load of crap i've probably heard since i've been on this forum (and that must be like 4 years now). Getting the fueling right isnt a bitch at all as long as you know what your doing. I've tuned a few different Vtec's now and i wouldnt exactly call them a bitch to tune providing theres nothink wrong with the car. If there is something wrong with the car then thats another story.... and i'm sure any other tuner on here will back me up on this.
