This is the issue.
And it's not just Johnny Foreigner. Plenty of English that have never worked a day in their lives, we pay for them to get high everyday.
 
you have a good point, with how bad conditions some of these countries are, who isnt going to turn down a offer to come here for a better life with free healthcare and housing etc. Definetly the goverments fault all the way
 
Why so much hate? If its that bad why don't we all move to Romania.

The Welfare System is one of the UK's greatest achievements. If you are not able to look after yourself then the state will provide a basic allowance. Would you rather live in a country where there was extreme poverty?

The UK is a great place to live. Every system has its flaws but I'd rather have a system with flaws than no system at all.

And the system is good. and should be for the people of the country. Not people who just wanna come over here and get everything for free. We also need a massive cull of people born here who massively abuse the system. Eugh

Do you seriously think that this conversation over immigration issues can have an "objective" positive side-stance? It always depends on which side you are and what moral priorities you set. And after that we come down to politics and in the ways to make people believe and support the dominant representations etc. If you ask me I would rather opt for a humanistic approach but in the meantime by setting limitations in various aspects.

Exactly my point, it comes down to politics and people are not interested in that until it affects them directly.... which is wrong, you are either into politics or you are not..

also i think if you are not interested in it, you should not share your opinion ( thats not to say they don't count ) but i feel to have an opinion on something you do not fully understand is to NOT really have an opinion in the first place.. as your opinion is not backed by any understanding or experience of the subject.

hence it annoys me when people spout a load of crap they do not understand let alone have any experience of.
personally i think you hit the nail on the head mentioning a humanistic approach.. people seem to forget peoples lively hoods are at stake and that the figures of those who abuse the system make up a far less percentage than those who rely on it to stay alive and live well .. instead people take the opinion that all people from these countries are as bad as each other. its ignorant and does nothing to help the situation.

sorry if that sounds like a rant it is not. i like discussing things like this.

The sad thing is that the harsher the socio-economic-political and also environmental conditions become, the more the immigrant flows will be. This is something that can't be argued or change. Also, historically speaking the arguments and the dominant representations of the immigrants are the same (dirty,thieves,offenders,lazy,dangerous,economic competitors etc). And it's only when you come to the sad opposite side when you start to realise that this "identity" may be meant for you. Guess what you have become "the other"
So I believe that the right immigration policies can't face the immigration problem they can only handle this issue or reduce its impact to every side (indigenous people, immigrants)

The real figures show developing countries take the vast majority of refugees ,asylum seekers and immigration claims . Britain is way way way down on the list. One world one love .

As mert says ditch the sun and the mail too many cats on here been sniffing their spoon n1s with the engine running .
