Stroking the B16b

Ok Guys, Been doing some reading on here about stroking a B16B. Is there any good stroker Kit that you guys can recommend ?? had a look on the spoon web site didnt find anything. if all eles fails I'll stick with ITR Crank and ITR Con-Rod and use the B16B Piston. From memory around 12:1 commpression, oh and whats the balance with the compression ratio, Reliability VS Power, Running 12:1 safe ??

I would personally run ITR crank/rods/pistons (p73-00) with a thin head gasket. That will give you right around 11.5:1 which is perfect for the street. As far as 12:1 being safe on the street it really depends on the grade of fuel you plan to use and your tuners capabilities.

ok so here is an odd one. I drive a DA9 and I am buying the B16B since I have the b18a1 and this is an LS. would it be safe to run with high RPMs or would I be better off with new everything? 214XXX miles on the block. head was rebuilt 15000 ago. just bought the car. I know nothing about the B16b as noone will talk about it. thanks

I use the Crower stroker kit with ERL/Darton MID sleeves. My displacement is 2113 lts and the car made 240 whp NA on a basic fuel tune and small cams. I plan on using the Skunk2 Pro3 cams in the near future to achieve in excess of 260 whp NA.

I would not recommend it but my car runs on 89 octane and is pushing 13.5:1 compression driving daily. The ignition timing is very conservative and i dear not touch vtec without race gas.

i have a set of toda spec C's for sale, with verniers if any use to you?

sounds good... my question... is it possible to run spoon stroker kit with the spoon b16b ecu which gives you the abillity to run up to real 9100rpm? or do i have to buy a new ecu?

It is not recommended since the B18C revs up to 8200 RPM (with stock ecu) so you might have a chance of a piston hitting a valve or other disaster.

Thats why its is recommended to use a B18C integra type r ecu or a aftermarket one with the rev limit set to 8200 - 8300 max (just to be safe).

Another important fact is that you don't need to rev up that high if you're not making power. In fact on the B16B some tuners rev up the limit about 100 RPM or a little more just to stay in the vtec range when you shift up.

Hope this helps. :nice:

i dont wanna start a new thread for this so gonna dump it in here

ive got a facelift ek9 b16b and wanna stroke it to '1800cc'

-is it as simple as using itr crank, rods, pistons in the b16b bottom end?

-im gonna have a small head skim maybe a thinner head gasket to reach 11.5:1 compression

-then because ive already got a 5zeigen manifold, decat, fujitsubo cat back exhaust, spoon resonator replacement,k&n panel filter im gonna get the whole lot set up on hondata s300 management.

can anyone see a problem with my plans??

cheers in advance boys and girls

So from what I've read I assume (correct me if I'm mistaken) that even though you gain some decent displacement and a good compression ratio with the LS crank and CTR pistons you actually wont be able to rev much if any past 7500rpm just like the B20/Vtec?

this is very similar to what i plan....what size head gasket s required?

DanielsonEK Your plans seem perfectly fine :nice:

It depends on the build, many ls/vtec's and b20/vtec have been built properly to rev to 9000rpm, the most important thing for that is proper balancing and assembly, some also employ a crank girdle for added insurance.

ls crank and rods is allready balance from honda, so if a profetional install them you are not going to have a proplem, and i think b16b have a crank girdle, what you think blinx?

LS crank and rods are balanced from honda for use with factory redline which is about 6800rpm, that is why i suggest they be further balanced for high rpm use ;) And yes you are correct the b16b does indeed have a crank girdle, as does all variations of the b18c. b18a/b and b16a do not have the girlde though.

Agree with Blinx on this one. Even though the Honda items are balanced from factory, when doing a proper engine build it is always recommended to get everything re-balanced so you are 100% certain everything is spot on.

is the ctr pistons fit direct to ls rods?
the cr will be around 13,how many mm head gasket i must use to get 12:1 cr?
thanks
