woo got a mugen twinloop!!

good buy. always fancied one! but out of interest how much would you be selling the apexi for? :)

Im not sure yet mate. It sounds a bit odd but im not entirely conviced its an apexi n1 catback. When i bought my 9 it was advertised as having an apexi n1 catback but i couldnt see any branding stamps on it. I was looking in the dark and using streetlight though. I will have a look tomorrow in the daylight. Hopefully other members will tell me if this is right but the apexi split down into 3 pieces where the mugen was only two. Also the mugen bolts together whereas the apexi one uses springs to hold it together. I am not sure if this is right or if an apexi exhaust fits together?

Also does anyone know where i can get an exhaust gasket. I found an ebay link and they were a tenner for a gasket but i cant seem to find the link. Are they really that expensive for a piece of thin metal?

Does anyone know what size i need as well? The cat which is on the manifold side is two bolt and the centre section of the cat is three bolt. The outside diameter of the pipe is 55mm so i am a bit confused as to which size i need.

Yeah, interested to see the printout of your dyno runs. Ive never heard of a standard exhaust giving more power over a free flowing exhaust.

You didn't just hashtag ...:nono:

Should still be better flowing than the stock system. I think the fella was claiming it would lose power over the apexi system.
I do like the twin loop system tho. What is the bore size?

Im not sure what the bore size is. The twinloop seems well quiet though. I can barely hear it lol. Im notnsure whether to sell the apexi yet. I was hoping the twinloop would be more louder :/

Keep hold of it till i get my 9 lol

Bull ****. :blabla:

Few pipe bends are no way more restrictive than a complete stop then passing through a load of perforated tubes and chambers into another pipe to exit.

Cant remember ever seeing a thread or post about anybody loosing power after fitting a Twin loop over standard.

Yet another myth.

you no seen the video uploaded on here by some garage and showing u how much power a guy was losing tho be it on a dc5 the mugen gives poo performance comparerd to other brands just sounds nice

When i get paid i am tempted to do a dyno run with the mugen and then with the apexi. Then post the results here?

Haha when are you getting your 9?

Are there any other catback systems which are a bit louder than the mugen but still have the nice tone the mugen has?

I'm hoping in about a months time. I prefer I quiet system over a loud one. Specially when your talking 2-3 hp loss.

Oh fair enough. Is that the only difference? 2-3hp? Do any other exhaust systems offer gains in hp?

I think Keiren was refering to the stock system. Yes the twin loop has to go through its bends but there is nothing in the bends if that makes sense, Wehre as the Standard system is not a free flow back box, it is full of exhaust Packing and filling for silencing, so although the Twinloop has to do its loop before exiting, This is still WAY more free flowing than the exhaust gases trying to force through the packing inside :nice:

Keiren is cleary not stating the system is good for power compared to other Free Flow systems like the Spoon N1 or Apexi N1, He's not stupid lol.

If you go for a decent header say Toda V2 for example, coupled with a Baffled Decat and a system like the RM01A from Fujisubo ( stating this as its not a loud system ) which would consist of a B-pipe ( centre section ) and the Backbox..

With a decent Remap of the ECU i am sure you would see a nice power gain.
from completely standard exhaust to what i listed above with the a Remap you could potentially see something like 8 - 10 Hp ... Anyone want to confirm this ?

TBH some of the best results have come from Custom made systems that actually work out alot cheaper than going for Big brand names.. I mean the Toda header alone would set you back a small fortune something like £550 second hand is a good deal :wow:

hope this helps dude.

No doubt your right about the above gain compared to stock. Now put the twin loop on that instead and the gain from stock will still be right up ther a good 7-8hp. Even 8 hp isn't going to be hugely noticeable change in performance.

I know what you mean about the silencers in the stock system compared to the mugen one.

Cheers mate.

Is it just me or are there to many people who don't read a whole thread through before posting. :angry2:

Mugen Twin loop is not exactly the best flowing aftermarket system around but it is deffinately an upgrade on a standard system. Fact!

Think If you search the link to the DC5 that has a mugen system put in place of a 70mm BC system to reduse noise you will find it was probably me who posted it!, unless its been posted again. Just to point out for some reason the DC5 mugen systems are only 2" bore from cat back, plus comparing the Twin loop to a 2.8" straight through megaphone system is quite irrelevent to this whole thread.

End of the day, If you want to reduce noise you will inevitably reduce flowability.

I can see why people with EK9's dont realy rate the Twin loop as the EK9 fitment one is quite poor, as the center section maybe around 2.3" but the actual backbox has only 2" piping. You can get a DC2 Twin loop box with full 61mm piping to fit but you would have to cut it up, make it shorter and then in effect re-make it.

Like so:

Standard < Mugen < "Decent" straight through system.
