Would you buy a cat d?

I'd buy one, as a few people have said some cars get written off now a days for what seems like minor things as they get quotes at bodyshops and generally put alot of parts down to replace rather than repairing them so bumps the cost up, just give it a good check over when viewing it.

Also when it comes to selling it in my opinion its similar to buying other cars, you purchase a cat D cheaper than a non write off in the first place which obviously when you come to sell it will have to sell it cheaper than a car not been on the register. There's some bargains to be had.

Can you get the car to a bodyshop/repair centre.???? if they can get it up on a jig they hang measuring devices under the car and can tell if its twisted or bent, sometimes just having a GOOD look is not enough.

nothing wrong with a written off car if you know what to look for, the quality of a repair speaks for itself insurance companies dont gamble with repairing cars its alot safer to pay out and auction the car off if you know what youre doing you can't go far wrong i've bought and repaired plenty the facelift front end was probably off the first car breaking they came across some people wouldn't even know the difference. Rust is always the thing to look for if there has been straightened out panels check all the seam sealer is original cars that have been hit can split seams and leak water it doesn't take much to open the gap between spot welds.

If you not bothered in making your money back once you are done with it and you just want to track it etc I'd buy it mate personally!

This is what I'd do.

I'm tempted to keep my ek4 for a couple of years as my transport, then get another pick-up truck as a giant toy car (slow - licence saver / fun / very useful) and track the ek.
