Just want to know what yous got planned or doing for a career.

am currently working for carphonewarehouse.

i have not idea what i want to do as in my career.

i have two roads to go down..

continue at cpw an work up to a manager of a massive store...

or

go back to college/uni do a course that i might not enjoy/finish lol... plus not 100% job at the end of it. or finish it an become stinkin rich lol

i have no idea! lol

Like i said....

would be interested what yous got plan for yourselfs...

Im at stathclyde uni doing Economics and work part time for Kwik Fit insurance.

Once I finish my degree, another one or two years, graduate jobs are around 25-27k. Not bad for being 23ish. Thats if I can get a job/decide to get a job this way.

At the moment I'm a fork lift driver for panasonic logistics but looking at doing my telescopic training lifting the containers off freight trains also looking at the hgv route aswell either way I will be doing a driving job :)

Easier said than done I guess?

I chose not to go down the university route, and the friends Im still in contact with, who are have/just finished their degrees (ranging from 3-5 years), are really struggling to find a job.

..Most of them wish they could run back the time and not go to Uni, lol.

Alex, thought of an apprenticeship?

TBH If I could go back to being 16, Id leave and get an apprenticeship. I wanted to do it a few years ago, but couldnt get one I wanted.

And being 21 and more than halfway through my degree, no point now.

Im at strathclyde uni aswell doing my degree in social work , my route was college as I left school with pish highers . Easy life thats me off now for 6 weeks for christmas . pretty skint most of the time though think im gonna have to sell the 9 costing too much to run and insure . Pick something your interested in an you canny go wrong man .

agree wae that was offered one when I was 17 , I`d be a fully qualified plumber now :wow: ocht well

Iv had so many good job oppertunitys since school and blown them all. Most people dont get the chance of 3 apprenticeships and then to mess them up. So iv matured and im going to try for apprenticeship no.4 and i WILL make it work out if i get one. Also wouldnt mind off shore rig work but hard to get into. Currently away to undertake an SIA security license course in Glasgow as its not the time of year for apprenticeships. The license is also handy to have for part time work on the side.

Totally agree with you there! Your almost there anyway, and at least you have job aswell, and not drinking away student loans which most do!

I am at caledonian university studying social sciences. Hopefully when i leave i either want to go into sports journalism, forensic science in the police, or if all fails will work in my dads business and work on cars ;)

I was doing night security but job has now finished, I was going to college studying media computing and web design but couldnt afford the travel expenses to and from college ( 45 miles each way )... And i still dont know wtf i want to do at the age of 21 close to 22

If i could go back to being 16, apprenticeship is what id do

Mechanic in the army. Done ten years already not sure how much longer I'm staying in for though

Not sure what i want to do in the future, pissed about in school mostly getting high sadly and resulted in gettin crap qualifications etc. Was lucky enough to do my vehicle mechanic apprenticeship so have my svq in that although after 4.5 years in the job i chucked it as i just got fed up with it. Now have my pcv licence and been driving busses for 3 years, good money and fairly easy most of the time but dont really want to do it forever as the hours are mental and has ruined my social life a bit :((

I say me, alex, mathew, dan and mark all chip in and open a jdm garage, dan and me will work on the cars alex and his swav patter can do sales mark can be the designer and mathew you can argue with all the punters :p

I work for EDF energy, i left school when i was 16 and got an apprenticeship in a nuclear power station, fully qualified mechanical engineer when i was 20. the money is great but F**k me it can be boring and you have to put up with some amount of crap.
Think im going to go off shore in a couple of years.

Well as for me I dropped out of school at 16 and joined the merchant navy , i done a 3 year cadetship which was a mixture of going to sea and at college. At the end of all that i walked out with a HND in Mechanical engineering and a fully qualified Marine Engineer.

As for career wise there a 3 grades of tickets/qualification for a marine engineer Class 4 , Class 2 and Class 1 Chiefs . Iam currently trying to get my finger out my arse to get class 2s

Normally the company you work for would pay the exam fees and college courses to do your next ticket but i keep jumping ship (Pardon the pun !) before ive been there long enough to merit getting sent to college ! haha

Am still on the lowest ticket just now but cant complain the moneys good and i love the down , only down side is having to go away for long trips ! but am looking for a new job again Lol

I got accepted to go into strathclyde uni after leaving school, promptly dingied it and got an apprenticeship in a garage, was lucky to get one being nearly 18 but I dont regret it, everyone said I was mad to miss out uni, half of the same people are now working in call centres and staying on cooncil estates, while ive had the opportunity to start my own business and have a good life, loads of toys etc.

masterplan is to open another garage, either in the east, or in the north of england in the next couple of years.

Left school half way 6th year as I wanted to become a painter. Dad never allowed it so worked in the family business. At 21 left the family business and tryed doing something on my own. Became a it assistant and car detailer as when I was going it it was only once or 2ice a week. Good money in the it but it was so boring. Money went from 22-45 pound an hour. Just before I left it I was offered a promotion to it team leader. But my dad was opening a new business so I went back in to work with my dad. Plan for 2011 is to get my own garage and get back into car detailing big time. Been offered a job with my dads friend sons detailing place in Glasgow. So might go there first to see if it is something that I really want to do.

I work as a Contract Drawing Office Draughtsman. Absolutely love it. I get involved with so many areas of the buisness. Its for a Lifts company.
