2. Is my engine fu**ed?
All happened when i was changing oil tonight pulled out oil magnetic sump plug with this attached to it,thing is i never noticed anything to suggest anything was wrong, car is going great and running spot on so im wondering if its a engine out job or do i just need to drop the sump and oil pick up and check for damage?
Cheers Philip :(

google searched it and seen a guy had 2 break in his engine and drove it on but im not starting it until i no what it is and if its safe to run

I wouldn't risk running it and I'm pretty sure it's a big job to change, anyway I would check if it's done any damage

You have to be very careful when fitting these with aftermarket pistons, after fitting them i had to bend a couple slightly to gain the correct clearance between the squirter and piston skirt

They squirt oil up towards the underside of the piston skirt, cooling the piston and lubricating the grungeon pin of the rod

As mentioned they can be replaced quite easy, once sump is off just need to remove the oil pickup and windage tray for access

would d series oil squirters be the same as these?prob not but i have a d series engine sitting

i also seen these would these be a benefit for me?im running wesico pistons with eagle rods
eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

well lad ... to use those squrters with the wiseco pistons u must shape them round the piston skirt and even at that they are very very tight fit u would really need the engine up side down and be able to turn the crank to make sure the clear both the web on the crank and the piston skirt!!! any way to make a long story short take all 4 out and black the holes thats the best and quickest option!!! and no your engine is not ****ed .... u should have noticed a drop of oil pressure on your pressure gauge too but it will be fine once u fix it !!! hope this helps!

Ive seen people block them off before increasing oil pressure at the bearings, common for people to do that with turbo builds.

Will you have the car ready for tomorrow mate? Im ready to go

doesnt look like it mate, ill have to buy the block offs unfortunately so prob wont get it sorted till next week as im guessing they have to be a special bolt to block off not just a normal one

will blocking them off have any long term effects on my engine, like is it safe enough to do it?

Get the jordan out, you should still come down either way mate. D-series dont even have the oil squirters

the jordan has no exhaust on it lol looks like ill have to give this one a miss but i see dumfries cruise might be going to it next weekend for the day so might go then if its ready

Deffinatly looks like the Piston/Bore oil squirter.

Had this happen to a somebody I know. but he actualy stripped the thread on the banjo bolt into the block. He ended up just pluging the holes. I think he is running weisco 12.5:1 pistons and SK2 Pro 2 cams dont think he has had any issues but then he hasn't really done hardle any miles in it yet.

Me personaly I would be pulling the sump off, checking the rest of them then getting 4 new ones and bending them slightly to give better clearence as steven said. Even if they are all broken off as long as you still have good oil presure then ther won't be much harm in drivin on it. Just don't be giving it full beans and puting heat into the pistons and bores to much.

Here's what they should look like. Well B16 ones which I think would be the same.

I just happen to have my original B16A in bits all Boxed up in my bedroom under my bed haha

Thers an ek9 exhaust and manifold there you could use. It would be good to see the 2 civics go together

I take it you will be handing the motor back to the fella who built it? He should have turned the engine upside down by hand to check all the clearances

Hopefully you get it sorted without any hassle mate, your dc2 might see the track some time in the future
